Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      • My local dealer uses race chip. It's about 1k and a piggy back system. I believe this is it

My car is about a week away and once I'v racked up a they kms I'll be back in to have a chat with them.
Not the increase that APR get but atleast it available and can be removed before any warranty claim is needed.

        • Has anyone recently got a stage one in Melb? Seems like APR arr having some commercial issues and unavailable? What are the other local options?
Im not sure if a flash tune or a plug in box are any better than any others?

would love some recommendations and experiences with servicing with both options etc....

I have never had an issue at the dealership and they never mentioned it either. The only good thing of the plug and play devices is that you can add or remove the tune as you like.

In MEL go to DNA Tuning.

There is a thread elsewhere about APR and their current commercial shenanigans. Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole previously, even less so now.

                    • Hi Guys I am looking into getting some coilovers for my MK3 VRS combi is there any recommendations? the ones i can really see on the market are the KW's, Eibach and Bilstein makes them too, but spoke to the distributors they don't import them into the country, so any suggestions?

                      • ST Coil-overs, made by KW and seem really well priced. I had their springs fitted and I love them, would imagine the coilovers would be similar. Got quoted roughly $1200 is for coil-overs fitted with wheel alignment.

I was quoted nearly double the price here in brisbane... Which dealer is it there?, might be cheaper to get it from there and get someone else to fit them.

Peerless Automotive was the company I was quoted from.
