      • You might be surprised 3R. Spray test panels last weekend and the colour has been chosen. Haltech platnum 1000 arrives this week.

          • Plate looks tops!
was thinking of something similar with my xx plates, but I think that given the xx only comes in slim, would be rather obvious not an SA issued plate... so will probably just go with a grill without Euro plate holder.

            • Cheers! I wanted normal Euros but I have become quite attached to the Jakeys combo so I couldn't get rid of it when I got the new car. If we were allowed to get custom Euros like VIC allows for I'd have done that.

I also wouldn't have minded deleting the plate holder and having the empty grille with the plate mounted directly. Did you see Lakin sells these? They might be perfect for what you're wanting.

              • Well JAKEYS certainly makes the car recognisable. I only saw it for the first time on Sunday, and then today I see you overtaking me at Edinburgh at about 5pm. I wasn't driving the GTI though, I was pedaling a pushie home from work.

Ohhh was this at the train lights? I think I remember! Yeah I work very close to there so you'll see me there quite a bit, although usually earlier, I had to hang back a bit at work.
I like the plates, I was going to get rid of them when I got the R36 but I'm so used to them now and people let me know when they see me, I decided to keep them going.

Nah, before that, near the big Purling Ave roundabout by DSTO. But yesterday was Ride To Work Day, so there were plenty of bikes on the road. I was running late too, so no doubt I'll see JAKEYS again in the future.

                      • The next scheduled coffee meet is due next Wednesday (the 5th). Any suggestions for a location?

I won't be able to make this one unfortunately... and I've also sold my GTI and am currently carless (short term inconvenience only, hopefully - Mk5 on the way), so I'm not sure I have the right to attend.

Well, I have a new car on order, but that won't be here till mid next year (!) and I wasn't intending to sell this early. But I was approached by someone who was looking specifically for a car like mine, and accepted the price I asked, so I couldn't say no really. In the meantime, my dad has a Mk5 2.0 that he's no longer using (bought an S3) and I was in Sydney last week to collect it... unfortunately I was rear-ended by a C63 AMG so it's still in Sydney being repaired.

Yeah, it's a right PITA. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon and I should have a car again in a few weeks' time. Meantime, definitely missing the GTI.
