Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

        • Well there's been a small oversight on route #2..... I believe it contains approx. 2km of loose bitumen (aka dirt road).

I'm fine to drive along these roads but I know others may be less inclined to allow their cars to venture off the black stuff. So I've put together a route #3 which detours around the dirt section: Stonyfell to McLaren Vale via Ashton, Basket Range, Carey Gully, Bridgewater, Mylor, Cherry Gardens, Clarendon and Kangarilla

I'll print out a few maps which I'll bring along for anyone that thinks that they may need it.

Well it may have been surfaced in-between, however Google maps is showing a dirt road section of about 2km around the back of Scott Creek Conservation Park.

Anyone know if this has been sealed?

I drive along dirt roads reasonably regularly but others may not be so keen. You could just treat it as 2km of roadworks and drive at 40km/hr??? Or we could split at Mylor and meet at Cherry Gardens CFS.... but prefer to keep the group together if possible.

                • I can confirm Dorset valley road does have about 1km of dirt road, but the road itself makes up for that little bit of dirt

                  • The McLaren Vale half marathon is on today - McLaren Vale is currently quite busy, even have traffic restriction in the main street. I imagine it will be quieter by the time you all arrive, but parking could be a little tricky and the Cafe could be busy. The way you're coming in should avoid the worst of it.

12 cars which is a good number - managed to keep everyone together and nobody got lost along the way

Really nice weather for it and some roads with views across the hills. Some new roads and not too much traffic... and only one police car spotted (though we were all well behaved).

A few ideas tossed around for a possible track event. Plus there appears to be some interest in running another dyno day at some stage too with a few of the newer Mk7 cars. Would be good for people to get a baseline before adding mods... but it appears some people just couldn't wait!

                              • I'd just like to say this was my first cruise with this club and I had a really great time. Everyone drove well, it was a pretty casual pace, and it was very well organised, props to tigger as the lead car for keeping the group together even with traffic splits and making sure nobody got lost. The route was also pretty decent, even with a bit of dirt action! I look forward to the next one.
