  • Valvers car was definately the highlight for me too. Ive seen the car before but was nice to get a closer look.
Was also good to see what looked to be a second RS2! Ive seen the blue one doing the rounds before but there was a black one this year as well? Im assuming it was Simons new toy?

            • Being my first show I kind of expected there to be lots more cars entered and of a much higher quality than my daily but I know for next year that I will definately be doing so. Have to agree with the wisdom coming out, only way to change things is to make it happen ourselves.

How many online watercooled communities are there? VWW, vwgolf... others? Might be worth getting into the club scene a bit more.

              • I thought it was a really good day, and a good turnout, and good show.

There will always be issues surrounding the judging and the awards/categories. I think that's why a show like SEDF is much better for our type of cars.

For me the day isn't about the $4 trophy anyways, it was good to see everyone there, and to see some really good dubs. Looking forward to an even bigger showing come SEDF. (hopefully some more interstaters too!)

The only sour point for me was the VWCV Presidents comments before he announced the winner of the 'presidents award'. I can understand that it was perhaps meant to be tounge-in-cheek, but I can't help but think that comments like his are doing any good for the aircooled - watercooled relationships; I think it just alienates us as a group.
Sure he is allowed to have his favourite VW's (kombis), and choose one of them as his choice of the day, by all means, I have no issue with that. I just think that the President should be more open minded about all VW's, especially in his very public appearances and comments. His comments defiantly didn't want to make me become, and contribute to planning of further shows/events.

Yea, you could say that annoyed me.

Agree with you on that one 100%

Stigma's exist for a reason and that bloke only encouraged the opinions had towards aircooled folk.

                  • I totally agree with both of you and that comment was hugely inappropriate (whether tongue in cheek or not), especially coming from someone whose job should be to promote the club to all VW owners - it is not an aircoolers' club only, so there should be no reason to alienate the watercooled group.

I respect the aircooled cars, but it's important to understand that they're a dying breed and from a club business perspective, there should be a very deliberate effort made to promote the club to the future cars of the VW brand - especially from the face of the club itself!

                      • The photo's look awesome, a little disappointed I wasn't able to make it down this year, will hopefully make the next one. (On a related question, when is SEDF on?)

I was wondering the same thing.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
