By far the most popular units I've sold is the 8" version just because it has an 8" screen, but it comes down to personal taste. Audiosources tells me the overwhelming majority of sales in China is the 7" version, just to make the decision a bit harder for you.

The screen is a bit glossy yes but I have found it to be perfectly usable. A few people here have applied anti-glare screen protectors with supposedly good effect.
Bummer. Oh wells, it shouldn't be *that* far off centre I suppose.

Oh also, are there any decent wireless options for camera transmission? I really don't particularly feel like wiring the thing all the way up to the front, sounds like a massive pain! :\

Fair enough re the sizes, I think it's a tossup 7inch vs 8inch. Will have to get the tape measure out and have a play :p 8 inch sure is compelling since it's the same price, but the 7inch will aesthetically be near identical to the OEM unit. Hrm.

If anyones got any side by side/comparison photos of the two that'd be awesome

I'm not being rude but I had planned on less than $700.

I'm just a poor storeman lol
Read the original/first post, he explains it. DNS is being marketed as the advanced version, where as the ANS is still being sold along side as the entry level unit. Plus the DNS has more expensive/faster internals (the vast majority of the chinese units are identical in hardware, 500mhz/600mhz sirf cpus with resistive touch screens, since they make so many of them the hardware itself is cheap... the DNS is a whole other level, A9 CPU, capacitive touchscreen etc etc)

Haha! That is the exact same conundrum that I am deliberating over right now. I like the 6.5" as it is totally OEM but 8" is a nice screen size. What to do... :-S

I understand mate but the DNS has one of the best hardware specs for double din head units out there and the software integration is a whole other level, there's nothing else out there right now that can do the same. From the beginning the DNS was meant to be the ultimate solution for Audiosources to pretty much throw everything at, whereas those after a cheaper alternative still has the older ANS series. Remember the ANS is still ahead of the majority of the competition, though it has a couple of quirks to get used to. Again, the DNS is the next step up from, and not a replacement of, the ANS series.

You would probably be OK with the more expensive ones, but the ~$50 kits are generally rubbish. Always going to be a bit of a gamble with wireless cameras. It's not as hard as you think to get the cable up to the front really, most of it can be tucked under the trim on the side where the plastic meets the carpet, I pre-routed my wires in the Golf 5 and didn't physically remove any trim in the body.

I know right haha, gonna have to crack out the tape measure and try and visualise it :p

Fair enough. It's more my apprehension with pulling the trim off (and things never fitting back how they should), as well as unnecessarily punching things through firewalls and what not :\ For $35 though I figured I may as well just get it and then work out if its going to be too much effort or not haha :p

July 17 the date you want a firm order/money by? Still trying to work out what size lol. Otherwise can't wait, the cheapy chinese one i've got now is causing battery drain issues :\

            • Very interested in the DNS-610, the specs are quite impressive.

Quick question, do the units work alongside the 9w7 found in the Polo 6r? or do they replace it altogether?

Thanks for clearing it up DkN, I'm still interested.

You could always send a deposit to confirm your order, and you can still change or cancel it at any time before July 20 without forfeiting your deposit.

No it replaces the 9w7 altogether. I won't be sure if the MFD phonebook function will make it in the initial release of the DNS until I get my hands on a sample unit in a week or so's time, but if not it will be available later as a firmware update. Either way the phonebook is still visible and searchable from the DNS unit's screen.

                  • Some more information now on the Android mirror linking - it would require Android 4.0 ICS or above and must be an MHL compatible device (most leading Smartphones are), a list can be found here:

Do you have a video demonstrating the unit yet?

                          • Is there a video showing the navigation interface? Even if it's not from the DNS units, just want to see what the navigation looks like.

I'm expecting a sample unit towards the end of next week, I will get a video demo up ASAP after that.
