Looks like a good unit, pending if the GUI feels premium or cheap. Will wait for some video footage of it in action.
Sorry DkN, I'm not planning on purchasing one (don't want to spend any more on car improvements)

If anything I'm interested in the DNS Pro in the Mk7 GTI (Discover Navigation Pro)
Hope he changes his acronym as that could get confusing on the forums
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

I assume the advantage would be to have in once place rather than having to get an extra display like a ScanGauge (ScanGauge - Trip Computer + Digitial Gauges + ScanTools). So, the diagnostics would be displayed on the screen, if you're interested in that type of thing?

          • I'm back

So I have contacted the manager and he gave me a confirmed production date of July 20. The delay is a bit unfortunate, but it's all in the interest of getting an end product that will meet everyone's expectations. The main reason for the delay is the implementation of the music library for which I am working closely with Audiosources to deliver a true Smartphone-like experience.

I will soon PM everyone with a price list including a list of accessories that can be purchased. Because the release date is July 20, those who want to get the order in before EOFY can put through their confirmation as a pre-order. This will require a deposit of $100, but will be fully refundable up to July 20 when all confirmed orders will be processed. All invoices will be dated according to the date you confirm your order by replying to my PM.

I am expecting to receive a sample unit before then, and will endeavour to get a demo video up before July 20.

Before I send out that PM I'll just quickly confirm that the DNS unit will retail at $800 and the group buy price will be $700 including shipping. Again, for those international customers, you will receive the same price but without GPS maps - refer to the end of my first post for where to find them.

Since the unit will not be released until July 20, this group buy will stay open till then for anyone else who still wish to join. Incidentally this might also improve your chances in the free unit raffle when we have final confirmed numbers

Keep an eye out for that PM, those of you who want this confirmed before the EOFY.

Hey DkN, great to hear that the new device is around the corner. What details / videos etc can we expect to see in the time until the deposit isn't refundable? I don't mind paying a deposit but would like a confirmed list of specs (what the requirements for android mirror being the main) and a video showing the device in action.

              Thanks

I'm chasing the sample unit as fast as I can (asking Audiosources for an update almost every day), as I mentioned I am expecting it before the release date and I will get a demo video up ASAP when that happens. The specs I have listed so far are all confirmed. I will get back to you on the Android requirement, but I'll get all the info to you before July 20 for sure.

                • Sandy - is there any chance of a little more detail on the OBDII and Trip Recorder functionality?

Is the functionality shown below all that we get? seems like there may be acceleration, fuel consumption and others?

                  • Hi DkN, are there any further details about the Trip Recorder, any specs, pictures of the unit or sample videos? Also does the trip recorder receive power directly from the DNS unit?

The above image is only the OBD function, nothing to do with trip recorder. There is a second page but I seem to have misplaced the screenshot - most of the useful ones are on the first page in any case. Again it's not intended to be an advanced OBDII diagnostics module, that job is for VCDS.

I will see if I can get more info on the trip recorder, I believe it does receive power from the DNS unit.

Have you got any photos of the license plate light reversing camera installed? Sounds like a lot better value proposition than the VW Badge camera :p

                            • Interested in the DNS-810 and rear view camera. This should be fully compatible with the Polo 6R GTI which already has the RCD-510 integrated right?

                              • Hi DkN, do you know if the reverse cam in will be as per the ANS units (included in the output / inputs cable)? Or will it be separate alongside a 12V DC cable capable of supplying power to the camera? I have seen this in other units, and it would be a real help in cabling everything up.
