Hi all,
I need timing belt and waterpump done on my 1.4 2017 Golf, VW have quoted $2300 which seems steep especially as I will be forced to use OEM parts which are clearly faulty. I am based in Oran park, I know Pacortech are close by and specialists, however they wont do timing belt on...

Hi from the Blue Mountains/Sydney, T5 Multivan owner
G'day,
I have been reading these forums for many years and figure it is time to sign up.
I love the Multivan as it has been a great van and very functional for many situations.
Currently my mechanic and I are trying to diagnose an issue and running out of ideas,...

T4 Tdi CV support bearing woes
My bearing is shot. I finally found a replacement on eBay from Febest in Victoria. Received it promptly and gave it to my mechanic to fit - but it’s too wide/thick to allow the retaining circlip to go on. My old one is 15mm wide, this one is around 22mm.
How can this be? It was purchased as...

Third-Party Mechanic Services and Dealership Warranty
Hi guys,
Ideally, we do not have to service the car through VW dealerships to be covered under the new car warranties. However, chances are dealerships will find excuses to refuse to fix any problem under warranty.
From what I heard, VW has gotten rid of the logbooks (I did...Last edited by VWBOUI; 03-11-2023, 02:21 PM.

VW Golf mechanic help (Sydney)
Hi all,
I was hoping someone knew of a mechanic in Sydney that could fix my VW golf’s issue. The last couple of weeks an error message that reads ‘gear box error you can drive on’ started popping up. Sometimes the car randomly stops shifting gears.
I took it to a VW dealer...

Timing Chain Replacement? Your thoughts?
I have a 2011 Volkswagen Passat V6 FSI Highline and recently had the Check Engine Light come on. Aside from the light coming on, it drove perfectly normal.
A day or two after however, it had a rough idle on start up, was sluggish, lost power and then ultimately went into limp mode (it...

Dual Mass Flywheel
Well, 2009 Passat CC 2.0TDI with the 6-spd DSG - just noticed noise and a very slight vibration at idle. I understand the DMF is something that always fails around 150,000km.
This job is a little out of my league seeing you ideally need a lift for good access, and anyway, I'm too busy...

Hi everyone. Just picked up my Volkswagen Golf 6 (bought new in 2012, done 220.000km now) from a service at my trusted mechanic. Was told there is oil leaking from the transmission and will likely to have problems with it within the next 12 months. At the moment the car drives fine though and my mechanic...Last edited by antipodes78; 03-02-2023, 08:06 AM.

Alternator options
Driving late today and aircon suddenly went off, then looked at the instrument cluster - red battery symbol - so strongly suspected the original alternator had gone (likely carbon brushes have given up by now - 158,000km0; VW 2009 Passat CC 2.0 TDI (CBBB engine). Anyway, RACV confirmed it was the alternator...

Tiguan 2012 manual TSI occasional misfire
Hi VW mind trust,
I have been told a "I don't know" by my mechanic and so I thought I would ask the VW team to see what you think...
The current problem is intermittent and seems to be a misfire on cylinder 2. About 11k ago there was a similar problem and the spark plugs...
