My bearing is shot. I finally found a replacement on eBay from Febest in Victoria. Received it promptly and gave it to my mechanic to fit - but it’s too wide/thick to allow the retaining circlip to go on. My old one is 15mm wide, this one is around 22mm.
How can this be? It was purchased as the correct part for the car and my mechanic confirmed this. Did VW maybe beef up the spec at some stage to make them stronger?
So now I need to either get hold of an affordable used complete CV shaft with the 22mm race to accept it or find another support bearing at just 15mm width.
Any thoughts please on who can help with this?
The car has been off the road for a month and I desperately need to get it going again.
