  • VW Golf mechanic help (Sydney)

    Hi all,

I was hoping someone knew of a mechanic in Sydney that could fix my VW golf’s issue. The last couple of weeks an error message that reads ‘gear box error you can drive on’ started popping up. Sometimes the car randomly stops shifting gears.

I took it to a VW dealer the other day and they ran some diagnostic tests on the car, their report said they ‘found code P0B0C00 auxiliary pump’, according to the report the mechatronics unit needs replacing.

They quoted me $3,700…… Does anyone here know a mechanic that could replace the unit for a better price?

    Appreciate any help or advice!!

    Thanks!

I am guessing you have the DQ200; these have a common fault of cracking the valve body near the accumulator. If that's the case, the valve body can be replaced without doing the whole mechatronics unit.
Look around for transmission specials that do DSG repairs; I am sure other forum members on here have some good ones up Syd way.

      Thanks for the response.

Hmm I'm not too sure, as mentioned according to their report its the whole mechatronics unit.
Funnily enough I was looking at selling the car early next year and this happened......

It might be best to get a second opinion on it; VW dealers replace whole mechatronics; they don't do repairs on the units themselves, so you can save a lot of money repairing replacement.

This is how many parts the mechatronics is made up of.

oh wow, thats a decent amount of parts haha. As you can probably tell, I have very little knowledge about any of this.

          Thanks for the advice/help!

this is you? Just a moment...

would follow advice of the others above, seems like you have a Mark 7 not a Mark 6 if its the 2016 model.

Not sure how much this affects the prognosis though if its a different DSG model - others will chime in!
