Hey there, I have a MK6 TSI118 with the CAVD engine (unfortunately) I’ve had the car for about 3 months with no problems whatsoever, I love the car, it’s amazing, but reading these posts (as I should have before buying the car) have given me doubts, I hope nothing happens to it and I want to tune it however as I have realised no mechanic is willing to touch it, I want to gain more knowledge about my car and learn more about VW + how to keep it running and in good nick

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Welcome! Hopefully, you have a good run with your car.
Check the books and see if the timing chain tensioner has been done for the revised parts.
Also, only run 98 in these engines, any sort of knock will increase the chance of the pistons cracking.
How many kilometres are on the car?MY12 Passat FSI Highline | 3.6L VR6 | Cashmere Brown | Driver Assistance Package | Dynaudio | Discover Media | TPMS Direct | Side Assist | Adaptive Cruise | 3D colour cluster | More coming soon
Genuine VCDS HEX-NET and VCP Pro

Hey thanks for the reply, yeah I’ve only been using 98, and I’ve had a look and some of the main things that stuck out was: replacement of water pump/ supercharger clutch, VBELT on the parts list, cylinder 2 replaced due to material failure, removed and replaced turbo charger with new manifold gaskets, replacement of actuation regulation flap due to electrical malfunction. Seems like it’s been through a lot, hopefully it’s healthy now and I guess we will see when it goes in for a service next! It has 113432kms at the moment
