Hi everyone,

My sister in law asked me to help her replace the coolant expansion tank that is leaking. It looks like this, it seems to be a common issue on those expansion tanks where the coolant evaporates through the joint.

I had my S3 serviced yesterday and was told that my radiator expansion tank was leaking around the water level sensor plug.
Apparently VW/Audi/Skoda all suffer from this.

Has anyone on the forum had a similar problem?

I have a Golf MK 4 2003 1.9Tdi , and the Coolant expansion vessel water level sensor keeps beeping out a warning when I start up in a morning ( Mainly a cold-ish morning ) saying on my dash "STOP" Water level check, but the level is ok, al that I can see in the expansion vessel is...

I have been observing the expansion tank coolant level and it was down to the lower level.
I thought that it might just be expansion and drove from Brisbane to Mt Tamborine then Oxenford back to Brisbane.
The low coolant alert came on and I topped up the expansion tank with 225ml.

I fear my Chinese expansion tank cap is not breathing properly. I'm after an OEM one. I'll take the tank also if you don't want to separate.

Hi Guys,

Mien greeny has sprung a bad leak and needs a new expansion tank. But I can't find one anywhere. It looks like VW discontinued them in 2012-ish.

Is there another tank from a different golf that'll fit? One from a mk4 or an r32?
