Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VR6 expansion tank

    Hi Guys,

Mien greeny has sprung a bad leak and needs a new expansion tank. But I can't find one anywhere. It looks like VW discontinued them in 2012-ish.

Is there another tank from a different golf that'll fit? One from a mk4 or an r32?

    Cheers

Nope, the 2L one is much smaller.

There is one available. In america. Second hand and looks like it'll fail any day. Not what I'm after :\

They're brand new. I had just searched vw mk3 on ebay and seen 3 bnib within 3 minutes.

The 50ml of coolant won't make a difference. 95% of vr's will have the 4 cyl ones installed. All mine have had the smaller one.

Alright, that is what I figured but wanted to hear it from someone else. I'll order one from there shortly. Cheers

                            Is it your site, bugracer?

Everything I want from them is out of stock. I've emailed them to see what they can do.
