I've just gotten my passat second hand, and the previous owner unfortunately had it parked outdoors. I noticed a bit of rust on the hubcabs which bothers me and would love to see if I can scrub it off nicely.

Do you have any tips on what the best way would be to do...

Has anyone fitted later 81tsi into earlier 77tsi? I'm guessing its far from direct bolt in?

I ask because my second timing chain tensioner is now stuffed and a complete used engine can be cheaper than the tensioner... but I'm assuming there would be all sorts of ECU issues probably even...
