Oh, and one more thing, never spend all your cash when buying a car, always keep some reserve, so you don't feel the pressure when the car is broken down or becomes a lemon. All brands have lemons, but you know that right? When I've bought a Jeep Cherokee that broken down a couple times under the warranty, I've just parked it in the driveway, traded in for the Touareg and have never looked back. Who cares that the Jeep was a lemon and unreliable. Why would I waste my health stressing about it and posting it in the forums? The life is to short for that.

I admit I whinge about Volkswagen and I believe I'm entitled to. There are many many more things about life (and everyone's life for that matter) that people can whinge about. It's when people keep quiet that things do not get done. Do you think VW would have done any recalls if people did not whinge about their issues? Hell no. The recall includes cars that are several years old, and in many cases, outside warranty. The issue has been there for ages and they only fixed it in 2013. Why? Because people whinged. I refuse to believe that shutting up will get you anywhere. It's the people who do that gets screwed over. I believe that I played a part in the recent recall. I am one of the few hundred that's been in touch with Fairfax and a couple of gov't agencies about this. Yes, one in a few hundred when VW themselves admitted that thousands of Australian cars could be affected. I take pride in that. I don't just sit around doing nothing and just hope a recall comes out of someone's arse.

And who knows? We could have well prevented a safety disaster from happening related to these gearboxes.

I know it's strange but I actually enjoy posting my VW experience now. I enjoy researching a lot of car related stuff but that just all went to posting my (unfortunately negative) experiences about my car. Don't spend more time than I usually would on car related posts, it's just that all went to VW. Doesn't bother me. I'm actually enjoying it. It's what happened to me, why not say it like it is?

As I have posted on WP, the reason I seem repetitive in my answers is the questions are repetitive as well. You will see the same "Should I buy a Golf?" question maybe 2 times a week, well of course I'll respond with the same response twice. I'm not repetitive, the questions are! They ask 2 questions, they get 2 answers from me. I don't really like starting my own threads. I just respond to people's queries. Don't like it? Don't read it. It's meant for people who are considering a VW. At any given time this forum's got many lurkers (non members). THEY are my target audience, not Candyman or you, Transporter.

Oh and a lemon is an exception. VW recalled 2+ million cars. That's 2+ million cars with this defect. I did not fight to fix a "lemon". I fought to fix something that (out of the horse's mouth) affects ALL (let me repeat, ALL) DQ200 gearboxes. The truth is, this gearbox is badly designed. I hope don't people come out of reading these recall news and say it's the synthetic oil's fault. Hahahaha. The gearbox was designed to take synthetic oil but appears it wasn't designed good enough. It is a design defect and mineral oil is a workaround. Nothing more. I hope people don't blame the oil, but the incompetent engineers that designed the DSG7. Maybe they should work longer hours like the Japanese.

One last thing that's also puzzling. The biggest defenders of VW in relation to the recall (especially in WP) don't even own a car with the DSG7. A noticeable majority of them drive GTI's and R's. Have you guys even tried driving a DSG7? The people that I know who have (real people I know in the flesh so this is not anecdotal) say that the DSG6's drive so much better than the DSG7. I have never heard anyone say the DSG7 was better than the DSG6. This proves my point that the DSG7 is quite simply... a piece of ****.

This is about the recall, not about what ziggyboy posts about. And being a recall thread, people will talk about problems (a recall after all, is about fixing a problem). If you don't like reading about the problem in a recall thread then maybe you're overreacting a little bit. Go back to the Newbie forums where new owners talk about how awesome their cars are.

And to further my point, I did not start targeting individual users in this thread. I just talk about my experience. I don't understand why other posters who consider themselves "calm" and "non stressed" people have attacked me directly. Seems to be the opposite of what they consider themselves to be. Don't get stressed out by me, because I don't really get stressed out by you (in fact, none of my posts have really been attacking any one person in this forum).

As I said 2 pages back before this thread was hijacked, I got my June recall yesterday which includes the mineral DSG oil. Jury is still out on whether this will fix my false neutral problem. More than half the time it's happened was in manual mode, and people suggest that the gearbox overheats more in manual (does manual cause more strain on it?). Because of this I have actually rarely driven my car in manual mode. Such a shame, really, as this was one of the reasons I bought the car. It felt good in manual. I feel the power of the 118TSI surging in high revs.... so not being able to drive it in manual because it increases the chances of a false neutral is a real downer. Kinda defeats the purpose buying the DSG for me

Not really - more like a small percentage could be affected, but 2 milions cars get recalled.

We have 2 7speed DSG in family, both smooth as silk, and they will not go in for the recall unless we get the symptoms. The gearbox will not get opened unless it's necessary.

When you complain repeatedly about the product that is good, at the end no one will take you seriously. That will happen to media complaining about the products. M.Ryan killed because of the VW GTI and the DSG in the car that didn't have the DSG. I think that VW has a case they should sue the Fairfax, I would. I guess they may get away with it once, but eventually they will run out of their luck.

Anyway, I know one other person whose experienced the false neutral twice in Canberra since he bought his car in 2011 (similar time frame to me). He has never reported it to VW but is getting the recall. I've been urging him to report it to the dealership. I'm concerned that VW's assumptions of affected vehicles are actually less than they are. Many people don't report some of these problems which I think is not good. It's not an issue about whinging anymore, but reporting it so the manufacturer knows.

I don't think it is normal for a gearbox to switch itself to neutral when it feels like it. It's not the same as a rattle. I have had some rattles in past cars but never reported them (which actually suggests that maybe my tolerance for these things are actually not that bad), but gearbox issues is something else. I see it as an issue worth reporting every time it happens.

The recall affects older vehicles. From what I've read it's mainly for cars built 2011 and earlier.

Newer DQ200's apparently's got mineral oil in them even before these recalls.
