That's really bizarre. AFAIK all DSG7's are DQ200. The recall is about changing the gearbox fluid. Are they saying some DSG7's are OK with synthetic while others aren't?

Another possible explanation is if they already knew what the problem was and has quietly been using mineral oil for newer cars. I would be very concerned if this is what they have done. That only means they knew of the problem but didn't really try and fix affected cars.

I had my MY11 77TSI DSG Golf VI go through the recall service. I don't recall them mentioning changing the transmission oil.

My Tiguan 7DSG is not affected by the recall. It is a DQ500.

Exactly my thoughts! Yep, I think I'll ask again in a few weeks time. I might call the actual dealership where I have the car serviced and see what they say.

Here's the American recall notice. It clearly states DQ200 gearboxes.

This is a new recall announced today.

            Interesting. The site says:
Customers who have already brought their vehicles in for the current recall are not affected by the new announcement as the oil in their gearboxes has already been replaced.

Volkswagen NZ already has a link on their website up re: the recalls... Heck this is kind of a bad news for me, the car's in to get new clutch packs yesterday... so... am I supposed to go back in another 2 weeks' time?

Haha anyone who thinks that all mechatronics recalls had mineral oil poured in instead of synthetic beware, VW North Shore is one that put Synthetic in my car. Whoops...lol

I've been told by VAG Chullora that a letter will be arriving next week informing me my car will need its oil replaced, and possibly the recently installed mechatronics unit to be re-replaced as the fuse may already be fouled...errr uh oh?

I seriously doubt that they replaced the oil when they did my Polo as I asked if they would do the filter and I would pay for it.

I was told that the filter is in a different part of the transmission to the mechatronics and they wouldn't do it within the recall job.

                        End of story

                        Who do you believe.

Mine was done a month ago. Doesnt feel any different at all except for the rattle on idle it didn't have before they had it.

                        Must ring them about that

Is it a 6 or 7spd the DQ 200 is a 7spd It only came out today so give them a chance to post it on the VW site.

As an indication it took over 3 months to get the last recall done on ours. As previously said there isn't enough of the correct oil in the world to do all the cars in the recall ATM anyway

Is there a TPI out describing the issue yet? I'm curious how the mechanism works with respect to synthetic oil damaging the mechatronic unit and how mineral oil is sufficiently different not to do this.

Generally speaking when a recall is released publiclly, manufacturers do not have a full list of vehicles affected in the first 24 hours.
With (Manufacter X) on one occasion a recall was released but we the dealers did not know which vehicle was affected for a month or so. As (Manufacter X) had not ordered the parts to fix the issue and entered the vehicles in the Warranty system at the time.
