Tim, try to keep your words to 2 syllables or 3 if you must. People are having trouble reading your posts correctly and I think big words are confusing them lol......

We kind of migrated away from the original topic though trying to outline what could be done to save more lives on our roads.
Excessive speeding is dangerous especially on suburban roads.

The discussion has now gone full circle and I still think the problems on our roads more revolves around a lot more than just speed.
I agree but I hardly think that making sure increasing the number of people who learn to drive in manual cars is likely to have a noticeable effect on our road problems.

I also think speed is a major factor especially if you define speed as "travelling too fast for the prevailing conditions". Then that is based on experience and judgement and we head off around the circle again.

Over and out on this one for me
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

I taught both my children to drive manual (with foot operated clutch ) and then I sent them to a driving instructor for a few lessons on how to pass the license test.

        Two different skills there ........

Are they better drivers than if I'd taught them in an Auto - no, and they're not worse either.

I've had manual, torque converter auto, and now DSG equipped vehicles. Around town, torque converter auto is by far the nicest to use, for windy roads DSG is best, for highway cruising there is no difference.
