Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Really not sure mate, but for your first conquest when she's all up and running the way you want should be Jason's cracking time of 13.6 in his old Polo. You have a few hundred kg's more to navigate so should be interesting!

    • Lito, I just read yours and Gavs threads from front to back over the past 2 days, awesome stuff! I think you guys will be able to build one of these engines with your eyes closed now!

Can't wait to hear how the LSD goes!

Haha yeah I've seen the inside of a 1.8t more than I'd care to remember. Diff is a wavetrac, should be interesting to see how it feels, apparently they are really fun in the wet. I'm actually more exited about getting the engine mounts in. Stock mounts don't like big turbos

          • Just reading through again mate, couldn't find it mentioned, but wanted to know:
What front bumper do you have? I'm trying to work out if I want to install (and paint!) the Votex front lip/valance I just bought, if I don't like the main bumper anyway..

Got any shots of the Anni rear valance painted & fitted?! I'm sure I'll want to do the rear valance as well once I see yours fitted up.

Hey mate, front bumper is a JOM one from Germany. Good fit, pre-shaved, and abs. I think the votex lip would look sweet but you need skirts to pull it off, same with the r32 bar IMO. I did a trial fit with the rear valance but it wasn't really spot one, like where the rear guards are it doesn't follow the flare line exactly. So I've put it off for a bit, need to get this dif in first!! Also need new number plates, the stock qld plates are horrid and makes the car look cheap and shyte. Going with a classy combo that will stay secret until I get the plates...

                  • Soo apparently my new engine mounts and diff needed a holiday before being sent to me. FedEx has generously sent them to the island of Martinique and then Puerto Rico, and now the package is in Hawaii it was supposed to arrive on Tuesday but now probably won't be here until next week. Sucks because I was hoping to do the engine mounts this weekend oh well I guess I have no excuse now to tackle the headlining. Oh and finally ordered some black badges for extra stealth. Also thinking I wanna paint the driftteks, something subtle like fluro green or orange... Might buy some more plastidip and experiment

Fluoro green would be ace, or that glow in the dark plastidip!
If you do go a bright colour i would suggest leaving one spoke black (gloss or matte) for mad scene points.

Cheers bro, yeah it looks 10x better with the mesh, it always had a half-finished look to it before. Should look sweet once my black badges and new plates are on. Was reading somewhere that personalised plates are a bit of a cop magnet though, don't really need the xtra attention thinking I'll just get the slim black and white plates with generic lettering

just don't get them mixed up when it comes to fitting time mate, i've heard that chihuaha's aren't the best at increasing traction...

nice work on the mods, keep them coming. would be good to catch up soon and have a nosey around the latest upgrades, would also love to be taken for a spin in the thing...
