The reason there hasn't been an update is he's moved onto another project.
You have another build thread to read my friend
Thanks for the kind words gRaQ5. I haven't done much to the car over the past few months as I've been concentrating on another car. We recently got a Mk6 GTI for my wife and I've been tidying that up and doing a few bits and pieces to that over the past few months. If you are interested, there is a link in my signature to the GTI thread.
Yep onto it already - tigger gave me the tip off of your other project
Truly inspirational - what you've done with the GTI gives me hope (and something to work on) with cleaning up my second hand golf R. No doubt there are grit and dirty in all weird and wonderful nooks and crannies
Installed Verdict Motorsport gear bracket bushes this morning and fitted a new AFE air filter at the same time. Thankfully i get to remove the absolutely rubbish cheap and nasty Viezu air filter that i was using for the last few months.
But the best thing is that i FINALLY (and i mean FINALLY) found my god damn dash rattle thats been driving me insane for close to a year. There was a bolt on the drivers side dash (needed to remove the fuse panel to get to it) that was loose.
GhostKnit carbon fibre front lip. Nicely made and fits well. Just fitted it this morning.
JOM Numberplate lights. Considerably brighter than the OEM LED lights, but less intense than the Racing Dash ones. Just what i wanted. Got another set coming for my GTI too.
Very OEM looking/quality, and no resistor box needed.
Looks good, where did you get the LED's from and how much
Haha i knew you would be interested in them Chris. I remember talking to you a while ago via PM about the Racing Dash ones being too bright and not fitting all that well. These give out the perfect amount of light IMO (probably 2 or 3 times brighter than the OEM LED bulbs, but not as bright/intense like the Racing Dash ones - which are too bright and look a bit silly). The LED's are about 2x times larger than the ones on the OEM bulbs, and they are 1.5w in total.
I got this set from Auto Slick (sponsor on here for $130), but they took forever (6-7 weeks) to come from Germany (i suspect they were shipped along with other items that were on backorder), so i ordered this other set for my GTI direct from JOM in Germany. Ordering direct this time saved me $20 (so $110 AUD in total incl shipping) and they are already on their way from Germany. If you access the JOM website from an iPad you get an option to pay with Paypal which is the easiest way to do it. Within 24hrs from payment they sent me my tracking info.
My only slight negative is that the housing is a wee bit small for the hole in the bumper, so there is 1mm or so of movement. They wont fall out or anything like that, but its easily fixed with some DIY.
