Ah poop, makes me wonder if after waiting all this time (yep still haven't installed it Brendan) I keep on waiting and see if I do upgrade to a 2nd hand R then put it in there.
Soon as in Q1 or Q2 next year probably, depending on what comes along as always. Would ideally like to purchase outright, and even more ideally purchase before selling my car. Anyway better handball this thread back to Lucas, am happy to delete my ot/ posts later.

Keep it for the R if you are planning on getting one would be my suggestion. The stock cooler is big enough for a mildly modded 118TSI. GTI and R.
Really like the mods you've done to your R! Must be nice to drive
Makes sense to use the same cooler. Its a good size, so in a mildly modded 118 and GTi it would be more than enough. The car is good fun to drive, not that i drive it often (10,000km in 18 months), but i do enjoy it when i take it out. Still craving more power though.....need to get the boost turned up on this new DNA tune a bit. Might...just might look into a larger turbo in a year or so. Probably a Garrett GT28 or GT30 - but it starts getting expensive then and you also start breaking things too. If not, ill see whats going on with the upgraded K04 options like the ones LOBA and Revo are doing.
Lucas, how do find the 70duro tai? Get much vibration on take off?
My brother is looking for a softer one. He was using the 90duro in his dsg equipped GTI and the vibrations were shocking! He put up with it for a year and had it removed and now is on the hunt for another one. Axel hop is pretty bad in a stage2+ fwd car without the insert!
Hmm you'll have to come down and play with Fab_R one day at this rate
Stock FMIC is fine for 8-9 months of the year but it doesn't cope too well when the outside temp on dash is above 27c
Fab has a bit more $ than me to burn i think. Im doing everything on a budget. I think he must have $100 notes growing out of his ears. And yes, as you have pointed out, turbo cars dont like the hot weather at all. Even a big intercooler isnt going to majically make that go away though. Its a downside to a turbocharged engine unfortunately.

No negatives from me on the 70 duro insert. No vibrations on my car - not sure if DSG would be different though? I was tempted to try the 80 or 90 duro one, but heard too many people were annoyed with them from the increased vibration etc. Im quite happy with the 70 duro one. Best for him to just buy one and give it a try - see if it can reduce wheel hop without side effects. Otherwise, he might want to invest in the Whiteline anti lift kit which is supposed to help with wheel hop.
Shmick looking R mate. Would love to see some pics of the new lower stance.
Thanks. The front dropped about 15mm straight away and the rears were about the same. Im guessing the springs may settle a few more mm in the coming week or so - but im quite happy with the ride height as it is now. Might take a quick pic today. Will have to get a wheel alignment now too.
Sold my Scorpion downpipe and ordered a 42DD one from Carformance. The Scorpion was a bit too loud and raspy for my liking (no resonator), so im hoping the 42DD one (with resonator) will quieten it down a bit.
Can't wait to lie on my back again for several hours swapping them over.........hopefully this is the last time. Will be getting it Cerakoted (ceramic heat coated) before installation.
Also ordered 42DD solid gear shifter bushings after i recently removed and sold my DieselGeek short shifter. These will replace the stock VW rubber bushings with a solid metal bushing for a better feeling gear shift.
Thanks John - hoping to test out your stage 3 tune on the dyno in a few weeks. Would love to borrow your VCDS cable again when you get a chance please.
