Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • cutting out temporarily on corners

    Hi Guys

Have a bit of bad luck with my 1997 LWB 2.5 Petrol t4 of late.

The recent issue is when I drive around corners the van cuts out for a second or 3 then kicks back in and runs fine.

We just got over a major issue with the serpentine belt slipping and the causes the timing belt to slip!!! That issue was resolved and a few weeks later now this is happening.

    Any thought to the fault??
Fuel related? I replaced the fuel pump a few months back.

Any help or feedback would be welcome.

Has to be a loose connection if it only happens on corners some sort of plug somewhere not connected properly , check the engine bay and wiggles some wire with the engine running and see if it happens . Mate had a $120000 Range Rover new that did this on a RH turn into a roundabout , the car was at the dealers for weeks and weeks until it was found that the whole steering column wiring loom was faulty . An air bag wire was rubbing somewhere causing it to shut off fuel supply as it thought the car was in an accident ! Doubt the Transporter would be that technical .

If it's fuel (assuming you have a fairly new fuel filter as well) then it behaves differently on a full tank as to say a quarter.
I had the same sort of thing, I think it was the left and right swerve in roundabouts................

Anyway, I think it ended up being the coil, of all things.........or maybe the lead to it. (was a long time ago now)
