I think the oil cooler is going on mine hence coolant loss. Took it to the mechanic down the road and said I was losing oil from the rocker and the coolant from the oil cooler.
Somehow don't believe him when it smokes off take-off. Thought it could be a busted turbo seal but not sure how to check.

So i just got my oil test results back. 50ppm aluminium 111ppm iron. This is on a cfca 180hp biturbo with 200000km though new head at 160000km. Not using oil, though will check again tonight, and no smoke. My question, as posted on the facebook group, am i too late to replace with a d suffix egr cooler, or should i just save my pennies for inevitable engine replacement? Second question, any leads on a d suffix egr cooler that is cheaper than what vw wants? Possible i could find on a wreck - though would they seperate from the engine?

Dunno ozgti, but I spoke to a technician in Perth today and he said that is the first place he will look for oil,
I had my car assess by vw dealer in Perth, now waiting for approval from car dealer whom I bought my ‘12 multi from, interesting the dealer made no mention of the common issue with these engines relating to the egr, they suggested fixing the small oil leaks at flywheel and check oil consumption thereafter,
Trip from Esperance to Perth was exactly 800km and used 75l diesel and 1,8l oil, @ a very steady 110km/h, my previous 2,5 used roughly the same fuel, but no oil
Hoping my statutory warranty will cover my expenses
Btw hoddy, for what it’s worth, my 2,5 used to go into limp mode often first time you drive cold engine and you accelerate hard for first time, I replaced a$100 Bosch vacuum sensor and never had the issue or engine light come on again

Just got a call from dealer seller that they are refusing my claim to have my car fixed under warranty! Any suggestions?
Had my egr blanked off, both inlet and outlet side, will report if my oil consumption changes.
- Oil consumption no different with egr blanked after 1KLast edited by Kombi; 30-09-2018, 01:39 AM.

Took it to wolfsburg motors while we are away. Diagnosis is most probably head gasket. Pressurised it for over an hour and went to start it. Started on 3 cylinders then ran fine. Egr looked ok and thinks the oil consumption is related.
