When our water pump went it was about the same water loss as yours , can't help with the oil though .

    • Anyone have any info regarding the likelihood of this occurring if you have the engine suffix C? Is it 100%?? meaning potentially all auto/manuals 2010+ until the Ds came in will eventually have this issue at 100,000+ kms?
      Cheers

Had my egr blanked off, both inlet and outlet side, will report if my oil consumption changes.

        - Oil consumption no different with egr blanked after 1K
Did they advise grounds for rejecting the claim? Assuming there is a statutory warranty, off to your fair trading people?

        Cheers

            • 2 litres per 1000 is a bit too much in my opinion , normal wear and tear is a typical response . if you have ever seen the movie The Rainmaker its an insurance company ploy , deny deny until you give up . Get onto their Face Book page and start hounding them , I spent two years giving them heaps until it got them to respond in the positive .

Well, mine's a CAAC engine (MY12) and it doesn't use any oil between 15k changes and I'm just under 430k now.

What does the s engine codes mean ? CFCA, CFCO, CAAC etc ?

That's a question I've been wondering about for years!
Considering they're all made from the same block (I think).

                      • I Believe it is the CFCA with the twin turbo that has been giving a lot people grief

I have the CAAC, and also understand this issue to be related to the twin turbo perhaps as a result of the extra heat. I do wonder if it is worth upgrading my EGR to a D version for piece of mind though. Are there many reports of oil use issues with sigle turbo engines running earlier revisions of the EGR? (EG A, B, C)

                            • I think the issue was the egr cooler that was used on the cfca being a poorer material. Thus breaking down and sending shrapnel through the cylinders.

I get a bit of oil in the turbo hose but nothing excessive.
I have started wondering how long these turbos last given I'm well over 400k now.
