Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Replacing 2007 T5 Stock Sliding Windows

    Hi Folks,

New to the forum but seeking some advice as it seems it is hard to find when speaking with businesses.

I'm sure most people are aware of the leaking problems that plague some owners who have VW stock sliding windows in Transporters. I currently own a 2007 VW Transporter that I've been converting into a camper.

I've tried all the various inexpensive fixes I could but I'm coming to the point where I just want to replace the windows now as I'm sick of dealing with leaks. I've got one in the sliding door and in the opposite panel behind the drivers door.

Does anyone have experience in replacing the stock sliding windows with an after market sliding window? A particular brand that was just a straight swap?

I've spoken to one local company and they couldn't guarantee that the after market windows they use (I forgot to grab the brand) would fit in the opening made by the factory.

Also any recommendations for places to get the work done in Brisbane would be welcome.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

Here you go I have dealt with these guys not sure if you have so far but they had two brands of aftermarket windows for VWs .Auto Extras Brisbane | Custom Vehicle Modifications & Accessories - AutoExtras I think you will find the aftermarkets will fit as the outside is the same for all I have seen in aftermarket ,you could not tell that our fixed glass are not factory {except for the ridiculous VW price for the same thing } as they fit perfectly . Then there is Van Quip http://vanquip.com.au/Model.php?model=Transporter T5 (08/04 On) and finally Allvan Mods slacks Creek All Van Mod's Good luck .
