  • Bolt/thread size on T5 interior - just behind sliding door...

    Hi everyone,

In the middle of some mods to my 2004 T5, but I'm a bit stuck for a particular bolt/thread size.

The hole in question is on each side of interior, just behind the sliding door and just in front of the wheel arch. It sits on a little piece of the body which is angled about 45 degrees from the floor or wall. A photo is attached...

At first I thought it was the same as the bolts which hold down the tie-down loops, and those bolts do indeed thread in, but must be a size too small as there is still a bit of play as the bolts tighten up.

I can't find anything to match those tie-down loop bolts, but before I do the long drive to my hardware store, I thought I'd see if anyone knows the thread size of these holes off the op of their head?

    Thanks!
    Jon

    I believe it's a 7/16in thread.

    I can confirm tomorrow.

It's the whole where the seat belts bolt into. It's metric fine and I think it's either M11 or M12. I can measure mine and let you know.

It's a seat belt bolt hole 7.16 UNF you can get them from bolt suppliers or from some auto accessory shops who have those rotating bolt display units . If you are using them for seat belts make sure they are high tensile .

Thanks everyone… thought it might have been for seat belts.

i'm just using it as a mounting point for the false floor framework, so regular bolts should be fine… although seems to be some debate about whether it's metric or imperial!

I'll check it first thing tomorrow morning before I set off for the day.

The parts catalog states it's a 7/16 bolt, but that's not always accurate.
