Yes Sunny, it's ridiculous about the return trip but they all seem to do it. I don't think people in dealerships realise what a burden it is having to return all the time... or maybe they do & hope you won't come back.

If a warranty claim isn't carried out correctly, the dealership won't get paid.

There's no set time for a turn-around on diagnosing, ordering, and replacing the faulty part. It depends on parts availabilty and the service department's workload.

On something like a seatbelt, there's slim chance they'll even have one in Australia. Next port of call would be Singapore, which is usually up to 14 working days from the time the parts department places the order in VGA's system.

The owner's manual lists (or has done in the past) the fuses most likely to go pop.

In your case, in theory, it should've taken two visits in total. One to diagnose/order, and one to repair.

Maybe three visits tops, if the area rep wants to have a look as well.

For reference I just had a 90,000km service along with new front pads and rotors as well as wiper blades, brake flush and a couple of spare bottles of the windscreen fluid and it all came in under $1,200 (which is I assume the corporate rate since it's all done under my lease).

Blinds issue finally resolved they were replaced today under warranty.
Also got them to look at the feasibility of fitting a tow hitch given the vehicle has a wheelchair loader fitted at the rear. They assure me it is possible for the princely sum of $925.45! How does this compare to other prices for fitting tow hitches?

With the cost of the wiring harness on its own at around the $400 mark I would suggest that its a fair price , presuming they are wiring it up and fitting the tow bar itself . If after 2 visits I would have made the bastards come out to me and a have a look lest face it the area rep is obviously mobile so they should have done the third if needed at the customers convenience not inconvenience . Let's face it do you see the average punter owning multimillion dollar dealerships they got their money at the expense of "their " customers . Grrrr

okay got our T5 serviced today $490 for first service at Austral Motors Brisbane , I was a little bit peeved at one thing the service advisor told me one front tyre was worn more than the other 3 now on the invoice it seemed to indicate that they rotated the tyres hmm not according to my secret marks . They appear to have removed the wheels and reported on the brake disc pads WOW ! but they just put the wheels back in the same place is it me or does anyone else think that's a bit slack . If the fronts as we all know get the most wear at 15000 service I would have thought that good practices would see them do a rotation . I asked them to adjust the two front doors as they bounce back on the strikers [sounds like some third world built car ] explanation given oh the seals have probably hardened umm no I won't wear that one as the reason the doors bounced from day dot one was that this was a pre release model and by the time we had bought the van the two front doors had been constantly closed probably for around 18 months from time of production to our purchase so the seals would have been compressed not hardened which is why the doors bounce back . Looks like a small letter to the dealers to rectify that issue . Good news the faulty seat belt has been changed no more being strapped in like an astronaut on take off !!

Hi, Had my 2006 T5 1.9TDI Crewvan 150,000km service done last Fri Southside VW Cannington $1055. (includes wheel alignment & all drive belts replaced & emission service at my request)

Got my 105,000km service coming up very soon.....Been quoted $1400ish. Didn't really want this just after Christmas.
They will try to hit me up for brakes also.......
At 75,000 they said I had approx 5,000km left on the pads, and asked if I wanted it done. I declined and said I would wait for the light to come on.
At 90,000 they told me the same thing with the brakes, I declined again.
Now at 105,000, and the brake light still has not come on, and brakes are working fine. Might decline again I think.

Been there done that but we were not as lucky , dealer told us at the 3rd service of our new T4 back in the early 2000,s that the pads would need to be done at the next service . Well 3 thou later and the pads were screaming , went back and gave them a huge serve so they offered to do the whole job at cost as it then required the discs to be replaced because of damage . Told them to shove it and that's when I started my crash course in DIY VW repairs , did the whole job myself for half what the mongrels wanted at supposed "cost "price . Might add that the pad sensors are on opposite corners so you may find that the light may not pick up the wear on the other discs .

I just had my 75k service, cost $580 from VW Bayford Camberwell. I was told the front pads are low and rear are also getting there. Last pads were changed around 42k.

Is it that hard to do the pad changes yourself? I will be up for rear pads soon, according to the service people, and intend to do the job myself. Few years ago, girlfriend was quoted some silly price to change pads. Pads ended up costing $35 and the job took me under 5 minutes a wheel.

I'd like to see you doing it in 5 minutes a wheel on the T5, or almost on any car (incl. your girlfriend's). It's impossible to replace brake pads in 5 minutes per wheel and do it properly.

When you (anyone) make claims, please don't post the rubbish.
