I had it done to mine, it is a great improvement for the dreaded lag when rolling into a roundabout, and then you decide to boot it, but the van doesn't know what to do for a good 1 second.........
    This cures that problem.
Have you had the software upgrade to the DSG yet?

This is where I show my stupid... That or I have been living under a rock...

What exactly is a T5GP? Is it simply the offical name for the T5.x "new" models or something more special?

Long story short, does that mean there is an upgrade for our 2010, 103kW TDI's DSG box since we have that whole lag thing going on??

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Yes, the current T5 series is sometimes referred to as the T5GP, or T5.1.

Yes, there is a software upgrade for your vehicle. My dealer upgraded mine when the vehicle was being serviced. There was no charge for the upgrade.
In my case, it transformed the van. After the upgrade, you find that the gearbox actually shifts down through the gears as you are slowing down. So instead of rolling into a roundabout in 4th gear, you will find it is in 2nd or 3rd, which will be the right gear to take off if you put your foot down.

Hi Guys............looks like the topic has shifted somewhat...................so I might as well ask, I also have a 2008 Golf GT Sport DSG.....was there a upgrade for that as well and if so should the dealer have done it at the last service?

              Thanks.......................

Sorry, no idea about the golf.....
My dealer searched for an upgrade due to my complaint about the vehicle being dangerous. So, ask your dealer to search their database to see if there is an upgrade.

I just had a 30,000 service a couple of weeks ago and there was no mention that an upgrade was done (or needed). Might have to follow up to see what it what.

Does anyone have any information on the upgrade? Is there a service number or something that can be quoted if the dealer doesn't know anything about it??

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Unless you complain about the DSG box, I doubt a dealer will look for an upgrade......What's the old saying....'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.
There are a few dealers on this forum, maybe they will jump in with some reference numbers for you.

                    **EDIT**
I found this on another forum:
"Some of you with TDI's equipped with DSG's may or may not have these issues - but now there appears to be a fix.

I've had a problem with a long delay in the DSG engaging from a stop. Also, I've had some engine hesitation and lurching issues.

Here is information from my paperwork after having those issues repaired.

There was an ECM Software update to fix engine hesitation and lurching at low speed. That problem seems to be fixed.
                    UPDATE NUMBER: 23602599

Huge delay in the engagement of the DSG from a stop. There was a TSB for this specific issue dated on June 16, 2011. After my initial drive from the dealership to work --- this problem also appears to be fixed.
                    TSB NUMBER: 2011690/3 35-11-01"

This is apparently for ' all models 2004-2011 DSG. All VIN #'s'

That's great to hear as it was on issue that really put me off the loaner dsg equipped Transporter I had and made getting back into my A6 such a pleasure.

I had the DSG update done yesterday. The VW dealer did not recognise the update number listed earlier, but did indeed find the update in the system. It is apparently not an update that will be routinely done. Only if you complain about the lag then it will be done.

In sports mode it now down-changes earlier and is quicker out of corners / round-a-bouts. However I have not noticed any difference in "D" mode since the update.

It was the opposite for me....'S' was the same, but 'D' had a huge improvement.

Yes, as a dealer we cant just go throwing software upgrades in. Unless its a campaign, or a customer complains about a fault. If under warranty generally we need tech support permission to go ahead and do it as it leaves the blame on VGA if something faults.

If we go ahead ourselves and upgrade and then the box fails, then its on the dealership to cover the box.

Hi Buzuki you sound like someone inside VW is that correct ?, if so as you would have seen by now numerous questions about "sealed for life " transmissions do you know what is classed as "life" as I am a firm believer that these trannies if sealed for life should not be the owners responsbility if they fail because VW don,t allow for servicing or replacing fluid . We all know that engine oil has to be changed regularly why not transmission fluid it gets the same stresses as engine oil if not more . Please don,t feel obliged to answer if you feel uneasy about giving information that could be misinterpreted . As you may have read earlier on about the new 7 speed owners finding themselves with a hesitation when entering an intersection or round about , surely this should not be an issue that requires a customer complaint to get it sorted VW in general should have recognised this and fixed every single one before someone gets in a serious accident .
