My second manifold has failed. the foirst at 139000, 2nd at 243000. had a chat with Frank, the local Sportsvan guy. The first thing he did was look under the van to see if the bottom engine cover was in place. He says that this forces air coming in through the radiator over the top of the engine and assists in colling the turbo. They crack if the covers are removed. Could be, but mine has been on for almost the entire life of the bus.
Fighting with VWSA that says its the age of the bus, and will mot consider my claim.

At that mileage it's bit hard to push. But you never know, good on you for trying.
How much did they quoted you?
Are you meaning the clip that holds the intercooler pipe to the housing as ours failed several times and a new one would not have worked as the alloy part it clips to wears so we screwed ours into place has never come off again .
No. It's a similar clip that fits onto the turbo boost pipe outlet ie 3 pipes before the intercooler inlet. The clips wear against the securing lugs. The clips need replacement before the lugs wear to a point that the pipes are unable to be secured.
Clip 14A

They are all similar. 3 sizes. Those on the right are cooler charge air leading from the IC to the throttle body and inlet manifold. Top left are filtered air to turbo inlet.
I am hoping thats my problem as well and not a cracked manifold
I can move the large rubber pipe that goes over the rocker cover towards the rear and to the turbo?
Its fairly loose but connected and the underneath is covered in a soot type deposit!
Does this mean it might be the clip??!
