They don’t have the right load rating for the T5/T6.

I have just had 4 of the Cooper ATT 225/60/R17 tyres put on my T5. Load rating is 103, same as what was on there originally. Speed rating is H (210kph). Original tyres were W (270kph).

Only had them for a couple of days but happy with them so far. Don't seem to be too noisy and they made my speedo more accurate. Only 1-1.5kph out at 100kph on GPS.

          • OK.. I'm confused.

            Mud and snow tyres are a 215 60 17 and 103t.
            Standard tyres re 235 55 17 and 103h

Big difference in Terms of speed rating.

What/which rating do I need to go by? It's difficult finding h+ tyres in an offroad tread.

            • The load rating is more important.

              • So as long as it's more than what's on the placard I'm good?

                  • As I recall when I researched this, the load rating must be equal or better than the original tyres, but the speed rating can be one or two rates lower than the originals, in which T speed rated tyres are okay replacements for H rated tyres. Ss aren't.

                    • I’d say that the speed rating must be at least equal or higher the the vehicle max. speed.
Though, most likely, in the size that can be fitted to the Transporter all today manufactured tyres exceed that.

                      • I don't ever see a multivan hitting more than 180! It just doesn't have the aerodynamics for it!!

My tuned t5.1 132kw has exceeded 180 km/h (gps verified), but you do need a lot of road to wind it out.

                            • Next question. Is et25 too aggressive?

                              • I would say way too aggressive! Maybe illegally so. An 8" rim's stock offset is ET52 I think?
