Hi ozgti, I fitted 255/55/18 twelve months ago, 12mm smaller than 245/65/17, only rubbing was on plastic under engine guard, fitted bolts both sides to pull guard inwards, problem solved, my first Toyo tyres, very pleased, done 40kkm already.
Remap engine supposedly more then 200hp, 180 kmh no problem, mechanic who did remap used software to recalibrate speedo according to Amarok 18” wheels.
Amarok wheels are et 49 or so. Multivan re et55. Looking at some steel wheels around et 35 or so. May need cutting and flares. But I'll say this, it's so much quieter and smoother than 245 35 19! Feels zippier too.
Yes I noticed a softer ride going from 45 to 55 profile, I can just imagine the difference going from 35 to 65 profile.
My speedo was reading about 10% slow with bigger wheels, choosing the bigger amarok wheels in computer the speedo is now gps accurate.
And Perth is now 50km closer to Esperance!
Widetread Tyres on Burwood Hwy, Ferntree Gully $199 each ($861 including alignment).
Noticing a bit of noise now, depends on road surface, but I reckon I can put up with it.
curious if anyone has considered or fitted falken FK510 tires to a multivan/T5+ van, 235/55R17 103W…? I had falkens on my first commodore 25 years ago and they were a great tire, these are new on the market and supposedly won a wheels mag award in 2018 (?)…thou unlikely tested on a van...
Just ordered 4 x COOPER ATT in 235/60/17 106H
Replacing Yokohama Geolandar's which have been wearing on the edges, and generally havn't had great mileage out of.
$215 / tyre
Hopefully not too noisy as someone previously had mentioned.
Load index of 106 is good, was previously very hard to find an AT tyre in that size & load rated above 103.
The extra profile (60) makes the speedo read perfectly.

Looking at doing the same after the lockdown. Would appreciate a review once you have them tested. Thanks.

I'm looking at upgrading from the stock 16" rims to some used Amarok 17" rims, but I'm not finding a lot of all-terrain tyres in the right kind of profile.
Hi Wintrmute, may I suggest checking your Insurance? No use modifying and then finding out you have no insurance because you have the wrong tyre/wheel on to what the Vehicle Specs are.....could be costly!
Cheers Dennis

What good options have you found so far?
Or is it better to stay on the 16" rims?
Both are 5x120 but offset is different?
I have 17” ronals on my van with All terrain tyres.

I have these tyres. So far, so good but not confident I’ll see more that 30,000kms.
