We are in a warm country, so wouldn't the above comment mean they will deteriorate quicker in our climate?
Yes. In the same way that summer tyres start to lose performance as the ambient temperature falls below +7°C, winter tyres do likewise as the ambient temperature rises above +7°C, which is why owners revert to their set of summer tyres (and wheels) during the warmer months.
Installed two of the relatively new tyre model "Michelin Premacy 3 ST" 235/55r17 103W XL.
The back of my Multivan is much more jiggly then the front. To make front and back ride the same (by making the back ride better) I decided to try different tyres front and back. So, I kept the sporty and crisp "Dunlop Sport 01" at the front, and put the extra cushy and quiet Michelins at the back.
This worked out exactly as planned. The front still steers very weel, whereas the back now rides as well as the front and very quiet.
The Michelins are Made in China (what to make of this?), but I can not fault them on any perceivable criteria: they looks quality, perform well, no extra roll, no squeal.

If the term "cushy" is anything to go by, that's exactly what I was hoping to achieve with my Maxxis. No such luck: after a couple of thousand km's I reckon they're no less harsh than the Dunlops which preceded them. If the Chinese made Michelins are indeed "cushy" then I envy you. What did they cost, btw?
I got the Michelins fitted at Costco for $280 each whereabouts. The cost is not a factor for me (leased car), I was looking for the best outcome. "Michelin Premacy 3 ST" came out in Aug 2013, a new design, there is a info on them on the Michelin au site.
I just came back from a trip thru the mountains, and the Michelins could not be faulted: no decernable tyre noise, the ride at the back is as good as the front, fine roadholding (no squealing when pushing thru hairpins). The only thing I can not comment on is how they would behave as fronts (as I only have them at the back). One risk is, if installed at the front, steering might loose some crispness compared to original Dunlop Sport 01.
Some months ago I fitted a set of Nan-Kang. Ive done about 25k on them. So far so good. Lots of tread left. They can slip a bit on take off, but that could be the twin turbo (or my aggressiveness).
It would be good if people always say whether they run the van empty, 1/2 loaded or loaded to the max most of the time, since it affects how long your tyres last. These 55mm profile tyres don't have a high load rating and have very weak side wall. I'm running Good Year Cargo Vector and they're noisy like hell. I had to drop the pressure down quite a lot and even with the van fully loaded all the time, the side wall support is amazing. Now close to 25,000km I can guess that they're still good for up to 50,000km, which is less than 10,000km more than what I got from Hankook RA23 - excellent tyre plenty of grip. If I keep my van for another year or 2, I'll go with Hankook RA23 again.
