Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I had the same problem with my T4. Fortunately I knew straight away what the problem was after changing the brake light switch on my previous T4 auto. With a manual trans. you can just keep going [without brake lights] With the auto trans you can't move the trans out of park position, leading to some very embarrassing moments while hollidaying in Tasmania some years ago. After waiting for a new switch to arrive & trying to install, found the part no on ETKA is wrong. GGGGRRRRRRRR.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Gave the rig a spring clean, now has the monitor hung up and the PC permenant in there now, happy with result. Now with an extra long obd cable i could scan or tune your car from the back of my van for the win especially on the rainy days. Nex tmove will be an invertor so i can run it without 240V AC and a laser printer is next on the cards.
Posted this sitting in the back of the van!!

You will need 2000W inverter for the laser printer (I tried laser with 800W pure sine wave inverter - no go). I use bublejet HP multifunction 1300 series printer, very reliable even in hot weather.

Without doubt mate only problem is itll be ECU or ecu x 2 whatever the case may be flash direct to the EEprom for now as the boot has been disabled. For peace of mind any tunes that require this we dont solder the board, we have a special jig made up for that. Secondly the tracks on thenew ecus are shockingly tiny just dont want to go there, so non intrusive as much as we can mate. If you need any in depth info feel free to pm or email me with the info

Once we have finalised the spec and finance, I will get in contact. 6 month lead time is likely, so hope they have managed to get it to boot! I'd rather not play with the ecu... I should PM you with all of this, but I'm nearly sorted with the MK1 too.

As far as T5 go, has anyone done 20x9" fronts and 20x10" rears? (X5 BMW Style)

                      thread dredge,

                      120K km
                      oil and oil filter change
                      fuel filter change

adjusted LHS sliding door top mount due to annoying rattle.Broken locating lug is not available as a separate part so stays as is.

Took my wheels of today and rotated the tyres on the rims, since the outer sides had slightly more wear than the inner ones. I still can't see these Kumho Solus KH15 lasting more than 25,000km in total.

I fitted an uprated headlight loom and some Osram nightbreakers today. Took a while as I always found a 'better' way to run the loom through the engine bay. Took me 3 attempts till I was happy with it

After fitting everything I noticed that I'd used white cable ties instead of black ones, but couldn't give a rats ass at that point. lol.

Also found the friggin' anchor point for the child seat finally, took me about 2 days of Internet research and 5 minutes of real life research in the van. haha

                            Just sayin'

It really shows how heat soak kicks in across the 2 back to back runs.

That makes me worry a lot about my van. We are on the move the get back to FNQ and I expect a big power loss through heat soak up there. I mean you lost 4kw in NSW....time for me to think about a bigger FMIC I guess

Sick of looking at all the crap below the wiper chamber.
If you do this you will need a puller to remove the wipers
The plenum cover is held on by two mounting lugs only.Just prise it up gently on each side and it will remove

                                Messy

This is the one of the mounting lugs on the underside of the cover.

                                Cleaned engine as well

                                Mikinoz,
what chip is in that?It is a Vw T5??
Not Porsche powered or similar by any chance
                                522Nm is impressive
