Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Dealt with a gearstick that wouldnt select 1st or 2nd..the collar that holds tension on the spring to hold the stick up had slipped up thus giving nothing to guide me into 1st and 2nd as well allowing accidental reverse!!
Also reattatched the drain hose to the water trap under the aircon as now my passenger foot well is soaked in water!

This is what used to be a clutch release bearing and sleeve. Some of those bits were getting caught in the pressure plate fingers on my drive home, pedal would stay down and bounce back up, just glad it made it home obviosly the clamp action was ok. Heavy cover was to blame

Got an intermittent flashing glow plug light, which led to a new brake switch fitted myself today, thanks to

Not impressed with VW techs not picking it up from their fault codes, when it was in for passenger door lock remote locking repair last week.

Was it flashing when you took it there???? i ask this as the only way they would highlight that is if they did a full data dump which isnt always the case mate. If it was in fact flashing then its the blinkers on syndrome and thats poor, if it wasnt well thats a wee bit different.

Had a seized A/C fan blower replaced in the Multivan, rather expensive for the new unit $532. Apparently the drain to the heater core was blocked and the water backed up and the shaft in the motor seized. Only symptom was a small high pitch squeal the day previous to it stopping coming from the passengers footwell. We were travelling back from NSW and by the time I got around to searching for the problem a couple of days later the motor had seized. Hoping to get the old one from the repair shop and dissect it a bit to see what happened.

I confess that I didn't do any thing to My T5 today, other than drive it, however on Wednesday I had some Eibach sports coil springs fitted.
Talk about chalk and cheese from OEM suspension. It does ride about 30mm-40mm lower, but the ride quality is so much better and very sharp and responsive in comparison to standard Crewvan spec'.

Will post some before and after pics soon.
                        Cheers Tombi

Don't have a VWCV but we serviced a T5 2.5 TDI 96kW in manual format and I must say these vans are so comfortable to drive in

Added a Pure Highway DAB+ receiver to the van, as the new Kenwood can't receive AM for some reason. Now I can listen to the local ABC again ...
Next is to permanently plumb it into the wiring.

The California Cow is going to be made a small beauty ... anecdotally, after some setbacks with radiator hoses and other souflets, we decide to pass in the body and while gratant some puffinesses a hole there was updated in the right car door.
We ask for the opinion of a coachbuilder who suggests us to change this rotten door ! Finally, he makes us a tempting proposition, we must buy a door, and unstick all and it puts back the body in good condition with a beautiful white veil in more!

Thus, we do not have more than to find the door and it leaves to the grooming!

Are we going to redo a Cow ? ...

                                Further to the next number
