Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Roof lining join strip clips

Hi all, looking for some replacement clips for the joining strip between the roof linings in my T5.1 Transporter … they have a square based pin to slide into the strip and then a grommet in the roof support beam. I can’t tell if it is the pin or the grommet that is failing but this strip keeps falling out at the moment. Will try to load some photos later to help describe the issue.

Grateful for any ideas other than screwing through the trim strip to keep the damn thing in place.

Yep, them is the ones. When I looked last week JustKampers had nil stock but now have four … but at $4 per clip plus $10 delivery I might wait till they have more in stock and I can get all seven that i need to replace the ones that look broken (or all 12 might be a better option).
All other sources are on selling UK product, and in turn the UK stores are selling Made in China items. I will keep hunting AliBaba and see if I can cut out some unnecessary travel for my replacement clips

Ok check these out packs of 10 or 20 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...martRedirect=y. As I spend a fair bit of time chasing up sunroof parts I find the best way to find better prices is to get the original factory part number put that number into aGoogle search with the letters VW after and bingo lots of options come up.
