1) when roof is activated all windows drop slightly and roof unlatches, and rotates and makes the micro switches that send signal to the main hydraulic pump to run but does nothing... -

Hi guys first post hopefully I can get some ideas about why the cabrio roof doesn’t open,
1) roof un latches ok and mechanism spins and makes micro switch sends power briefly to pump only for a split second nothing happens no noise from the hydraulic pump.

My R36 has the dreaded seat bolsters disintegration problem, the alcantra is shiny and the roof lining is falling away, all of which need to be fixed.

assuming the mk4 golf convertible is the same as mk3 - looking to get back into a vw, but it needs new hydraulic cylinders for the roof to work automatically - anyone know ballpark costs and who does this sort of thing in sydney?
