Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thanks Rob - looks good - thats an Angry Grill!

Anyway - had a run up to Toowoomba in it today, nice to cruise in, pulled 5th gear on cruise control at 90kmph, all the way up the range - so I'm rapt with the torque

Not as fast as you might expect, getting all 5 (highly modified) motors to pull together in synch is more difficult than you might think

When I spotted this I thought Guy had already converted his T5 DOKA to a mid mounted V10Tdi from the R50 Touareg and......

...that's not a bad idea. Hmmm.

                    km's although 1000kw's sounds tempting, I don't think I could find a tyre that has a "Y" Speed rating and a "690kg" load rating.

Craig, I shouldn't have had a close look at your truck at Valla, now see what I have done!

Now a V10 touareg conversion has already been discussed over a few beers.....

i just dont know why VW doesnt put in their V6 TDI or V10TDI into their commercials and have a serious performer

now dump that shiz on its bum does anyone do coilovers for them?

Mate, I'd like to have V6 tdi in may T5, but market dictates what is going in the production and unless VW marketing department is sure that enough customers would buy van with hi-performance engine it's not going to happen.

I know its not quite what you want but how about the sportline?

They sell them by the bucket full in Europe.

I do. Neither will fit. At least not where the engine sits now.

My thought re the V10 in the DOKA was to fit the engine in the middle of the chassis behind the cab (possibly partially tucked under the rear seat depending on chassis balance). Problem with that is that is the front transaxle setup of the V10. So I can't quite figure out how AWD would be managed......but you could easily sort RWD....but then 750nM through the rear wheels only in a front heavy vehicle could be a little....frightening.
