Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

If you plot the ribs first good quality self tappers will easily do the job with no drill swarf either , trust me I have done ply floors on nearly ten vans with no issues at all .

Thanks for the vote of confidence might be the last time I offer help then . I would have thought that someone like myself who has spent 50 plus years working on car interiors because I am a motor trimmer by trade , could offer advice based on experience . I don,t count myself as a backyard handy man as my 50 years involved with cars has given me a wealth of information about a subject I do know a lot about than most .

I bought a wooden floor from Motexion (forum sponsors) for my Trafic Crew van (absolutely excellent product and service) and self tappers is the provided fastening..

Thanks Tornado yes the good old fashioned self tappers will do the job if Motexion use them then you can assume its all good . Look its about what people are comfortable with , we all have different ideas and some are good and others may be not as good . Personally with ply floors I dont want to have to remove the carpet and underlay later because it starts to squeak and groan when walked on so the screws are the best when done right [in my opinion ]
