Thanks guys. I'll hit up Brakes Direct for some costing, although they haven't been a sponsor in a while now.

Just debating if I want to tinker and do it myself over my Christmas break for something to do or if I just get the guys at Volkwerke to do it at the next service so I don't need to spend the time.

The hardest part is removing the actual caliper you need a long bar to crack those bolts , next bit is getting the pistons back to the start point , the rears have to be wound back under a bit of pressure and you need a special tool or make one like I did out of an old socket .

I have a breaker bar and spline bits so that should be OK. The pistons are something I will have to consider how I go about... So special tool out of an old socket? Care to elaborate?

Once you get the caliper and rotor off you will see the piston has a cut out on each side , I got a matching diameter socket and ground down two sides to match the cut outs on the piston . Then you need to use a G Clamp to hold the socket and wind the piston back in . The rears self adjust as the pads wear and are ona thread of sorts . Hence the need to wind them back in ALL the way or you wont get the pads and calipers back on again , make sure you use the paste supplied to the rear of the pads and pins to avoid squealing on braking . I did not disconnect the brake lines so no bleeding but make sure you open the brake master cylinder cap to allow the fluid to flow back as the pistons are wound back in .

Prob better to use a socket and ratchet or similar, as my PVC pipe thingy takes some effort to turn by hand

Drill a hole through the other end so you can use a screwdriver as a T bar.
