  • Best sound deadening pads?

Looking to start work on the van and first thing is sound proofing and carpets.
Best products for the sound deadening? So much to choose from I would rather see what people recommend. Same with carpet.
    Cheers.

Well from a motor trimmers point of view after being in the industry for close to 40 years my recommendation is what we used to call Triflex . Its also known as carpet underlay but has various names , it is made up of various materials that has been shredded and then blended together and ends up in roll form so you can buy buy the metre Underlay 900 gsm | Nolan.UDA . Now as I have done many vans with this product I believe it will give better finish than Soundmat / Dead sheet or any of those stick on ones . When used in tandem with blocks of foam cut from an old 4 or 5 inch foam matress the sound deadening is amazing .. You will need a spray gun and acompressor to spray the glue , check out the sticky thread I posted to see some work I did on a T5 LWB a few years back Insulating T5 "Another wet weekend and someone is getting a makeover" The carpet used on the side walls is called Hull Liner again from Nolans it stretches quite well as you will see in the photos , but no good for floor I usally buy a household or commercial carpet from a carpet store . They have loads of remmnants at cheap prices and its as tough as nails . This is our family van I set up to carry our two disabled kids in wheelchairs , whilst our eldest son passed away just over a year or so back we still have our daughter . It is also used to carry our camping gear and acouple of mates when we go Moto Cross riding so it is a good allrounder in the comfort department New T5 Project. Send me a message if you want to discuss any mods trim wise , I don't do conversions any more so you could do it yourself or a local trimmer could do it for you , I am more than happy to offer advice . I used Resomat to line the whole van Resomat Premium | Tru-Fit Carpets

I also went with a reflective 10mm self adhesive closed cell foam over the sound deadener , then a 4mm closed cell reflective foam on the back of the plywood panels to give a cavity between there chassis and the panels.

I then used Autex Flex carpet (hull liner) which is available from Nolan's in Brisbane.

I went this way as it better suited my needs as a camper van, and reducing the condensation issues while sleeping in the van. (closed cell foam doesn't absorb water and will dry out faster)

Howard's way would be a lot cheaper and faster.
