Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Polo GTI AE (2022) Stock Dyno Run

Has anyone else done a dyno run in their Polo GTI (AW or AE) in Australia (no OPF, 147KW model).

Mine is stock and supposedly running 132.9KW at the wheels + 423NM of torque. The power figure seems right to me but the torque seems substantially higher than the quoted 320NM?

Dyno torque figures bear no relationship to flywheel torque, so don't read too far into that.

The dyno operator should have used the dtorque setting which gives a much more realistic torque figure at the wheels.

Thanks guys. Based on the power + rpm figures I think I can get an estimate then. Seems like the max torque is somewhere between 290Nm - 300Nm at the wheels.

Any ideas what kind of correction is about right for FWD + DQ250 to convert wKw to power at the engine?

In the 150 KW range about 7 Kw and 10 percent. But can vary signficantly depending on tyres and how the car was tied down on the dyno plus the dyno claibration itself
