... not Forge, but pretty much identical in size to the APR. Just beginning to realise the benefits as I''ve driven it a bit more - stronger acceleration, linear rate of rev rise up past 5,500rpm (that's where I buttoned off ... corner coming) with plenty more to come by the feel of it. Put it this way ... feels like APR chipped ... on steriods.

Airflow to the sidemounts are severly restricted. Going larger is not going to help much.

As Dave has now discovered ... ... front mounts are the go .... not only do you get extra power but you also get to keep it at a point where heatsoak has reduced the effectiveness of the SMIC by 15%.

At the Brisbane dyno day we say the SMIC cars drop from 123kw atw to 100kw atw after heatsoak set in. All the FMIC cars had no drop at all.

FMIC's have been proven alone to add 6kw or more atw in any circumstances.

Someone in the UK just tested the Forge FMIC at Awesome GTI. With just APR stage 2 software and FMIC, they got 223bhp (5,200rpm) at the fly, which I think is approx 138kw atw. ...not bad. He's claimed 209bhp (155kw) atw but his conversion seems way off.

I basically replicated these results when I installed the Forge FMIC, so the results are fairly consistent.

I've had both APR anad Forge FMICs and both are great units. No doubt the custom ones improve intake temps and performance too (got to be better than stock!). Really comes down budget, personal preferences etc. Yes sure I sell Forge (hi jas ) but the good thing is there's a lot more options than there was before.

what sort of affect would the FMIC have on things like the radiator? does it reduce the effectiveness of this on cooling the engine especially in hot weather (perth summer)?

Yes, it will have an effect obviously. Before you buy, ask the dealer for their test results to check pressure drop etc

I place an order in a Forge intercooler today, I also ask for the turbo inlet silicone hose.

They make me a nice price, lower from that anouced in the website.

I hope they do a big difference!

Aussie Dollar is fantastic against the Pound, which is where the forge unit comes from.
