Well ive made it to nearly 100000k's without any issues so far. Ive even taken dump off and felt if there was any movement and there was none.

Until then. Ive done this on all of my cars for quite a few years. Ive owned a crap load of turbo cars. Never ever had a problem.

VL's didnt even come with bov's stock. So soon as you put a pod filter on they flutter lol.

not to sure about that one. but the reason i got my bov is because after chipping the car is running a lot more boost so there is more pressure on the bov = possibility of a shorter life span. to be honest though, i haven't heard of a standard bov stuffing up on any car and i doubt whether it would on a new VW, but i just got it A. to stop boost leak, and B. just incase it does stuff up

The standard Bosch BOV's are the cheapest, most reliable and with a pod filter the loudest, ther're just not adjustable!

perhaps not running enough boost pressure to cause a large sound.

chipped cars run about double the stock sound so would be pushing more air through the BOV when the throttle was closed off.

There are a few reasons why. Firstly, as Kiel_GTI mentioned a chipped car runs moore boost which equals louder sound.

The second is because there is a large sound proofing piece of black like carpet thing on the inside of the bonnet. That thing on the inside is primarily to reduce engine noise outside the car. Remove that and the sound will be a lot louder. I found that out when I didnt close my bonnet properly and drove down the street. Try it for yourself and you will see what I mean (just dont drive too fast as the safety catch is the only thing preventing your bonnet from flipping open).

Third reason, is because you have the standard air filter housing/box. If you run a pod or BMC you will hear some of the sound coming through the plumbback hose too which adds to the overall decibel level of the BOV.

Sorry to bump an old thread.

I just bought and installed a Turbosmart Kompact Dual Port BOV in my GTI.

Installed fine, but the vacuum line is now a little short as the TS BOV vacuum line sits more towards the right than the stock Bosch valve.

Did people who have installed this replace the stock vacuum line with a slightly longer one? The stock one fits on at a squeeze but its bent at an angle and when I drove around the block to test, it came off!

If so, do you just use a small cable tie to keep it in place, or something more sturdy? (I had to cut the original clip off as it wouldn't come off).

i had some spare tubing lying around when i installed my forge splitter. at first i thought i could reuse the old vacuum line but i decided to fit a longer piece just to be safe

Did you use a cable tie to seal it?

i tried to reuse the old clip that was attached to the old line but had to use a new one. the problem is the new clip is too big and does not bite onto the new vacuum line at all. ive left it like that for almost 6 months and the new line is still attached to the splitter

Get a new section of tube, its <$10, think it was 5 or 6 mm (take a small ofcut into a repco or auto store for internal diameter comparison).

I'm using cable ties. As its vaccum, pressure should not be an issue.

Usually it comes with an adaptor and an extra hose, i didnt use a cable tie or anything to attach it to the bov. had no problems with it or came loose.
