I just bought a 2006 Polo GTI, leather, rims, Stereo valued at $1000, lowered.
AAMI were the cheapest, i increased the excess to $1600 and my premium is $850 plus $30 windscreen protection value add on so I do not need to pay excess if the windscreen is smashed.
Forgot to add - 27 years old, maximum NCB for life and 0 incidents in the last 3 years. insured for $20,500
Went with GIO, 30yr old, $830 full comprehensive including windscreen. It would've been $870 with my gf who's 23 yr old. I took her off cause I didn't want her to drive it
She's got her Golf 118TSI anyways.
Current:
2023 Mk2 Tiguan R - Lapiz Blue
2015 Mk7 Golf R Wolfsburg - Limestone Grey: Stage 2
Gone but not forgotten: 2008 Polo GTI Shadow Blue
NSW is a farce for insurance ... I've got to renew next week .. NRMA want >$1000 (nil at fault accidents, max no claim, driving for 20ys) ... ffs, time to shop around.
Got off the phone to my insuraner and they've quoted me around $1200 if I list all the mods that I want to do which include: ECU reflash, sway bar, engine mount, seat instake, forge tip and exhaust.
I'm just curious was to who has listed all their mods with their insurance company?

I have mine insured with AAMI with all mods covered(inluding ECU Flash and lowering) for $720 with windscreen, hire car and rating protection.
(really bad driving record, and I am really surprised with that price!!)

an interesting lil trick guys is to get your gf to ring up for a quote , get her to tell them that shes with someone else for insurance accept get her describe your car down to mods and everything. theyll bend over sideways to get a customer including adding in all sorts of goodies for the sale, at the end get the quote number then tell them theat youll get back to them. next time get her to ring up and say that you already have an existing policy but you were quoted "this amount" , though the catch is if you have the quote number they have to honor it. through these means my insurance dropped by $60 /year ...i know not much, but hey its a saving. i pay around $670 through aami , windscreen protection, agreed amount of (i think i said 30 grand) with mods and add ons etc. im 32 rateing 1 for life , sunshine coast.
