Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Polo Insurance...What do you pay??

I do wonder of those who are with 'normal' insurance companies and have many mods (chips, suspension, etc.) how many have actually honestly declared them all?
It really is an area you need to be careful - if you get a keen asessor and they pick up stuff you haven't declared they WILL not honour your claim.
Then again you can get a bored asessor who is thinking about lunch and you could have a supercharged 308 under the bonnet and they wouldn't notice or care.

I upped my agreed value today, from 20K to 30K. for the last 7 months of the year contract, the difference was only about $70!
I don't like paying lots for insurance as I don't seem to ever use it, but for an extra around $100 a year, if something happened, I'd be able to get back to where I am with a few $$$ left over...
BTW, NRMA does not ask about your mods. As long as your vehicle is considered road worthy, its covered! Very strange...

Yeah, I live in the inner Suburbs of Sydney and have car parked on the street. Both of these make my insurance more expensive.
When I was looking at cars as a whole, I was surprised how cheap the Polo GTI was to insure versus other cars I'd looked into.
Lets keep the Polo low risk!

Mine's quite a hefty premium then particularly in comparison to others in this thread. I'm 27, and my premium with AAMI from memory was somewhere in the $1080 range. But that might be due to the fact that all the mods hare covered. Weird thing is, Just car quoted me more than AAMIBut one thing I don't get is, I'm one rating 1 so shouldn't be cheaper than that? Any views/comparisons guys?

will have to call to change the agreed value to maybe $22000-$23000, coz my car has sunroof, metalic paint, leather and tinted window. Will post new premium if it changes

Put it this way, when I insured my previous WRX, AAMI wanted just over $2500 a year, JustCar was only $986 in contrast.
I find the big insurers to be absolutely horrid with their premiums.Previous Rides: Polo GTI, Mx5 10AE, MY05 WRX WRP10, Renault Sport Clio 172
Current Ride: Evo 8 MR, Fabia MK3
