VW OEM MK5 GTI Edition 30 steering wheel

The steering wheel is a real OEM VW part, not an imitation or replica, comes brand new with original guarantee. It will be imported from Berlin, Germany.

Current price is $505AUD - once I get a decent list of people I will organise a group buy quote.

It's a straight swap, using the original airbag and horn.

If you want to be added to the group buy list please PM me

Depends on what kind of deal we can get with the group buy I'm hoping for a BIG discount.

$500 for me is new springs - so wouldn't even consider it.

ps dodge - want to sell your steering wheel to me? I have a Match nasty poly steering wheel

Why is it so hard for some to understand that an extra kw here or there isn't the be-all and end-all for everybody here?

My Pogo has more than enough power to get my licence in big trouble already, yet I find the steering wheel a letdown having had better in past vehicles. Hence improving that is more appealing to me than changing air intakes, filters and other messy things.

I'm concerned some around here would rather spend very their last cents on performance bits and pieces and then get a credit deal on $50 Bob Jane generic tyres.

            Cheers!

A thought re: the steering wheels with audio buttons.

Does any model Polo have these installed as standard anywhere in the world?

If not, I'd think it very unlikely the wiring would be pre-existing for it - fair assumption?

Obviously if the wiring is hidden away in the loom on them all I'd go for the buttoned one.

              Cheers!

I think everyone should be free to spend their hard earned dollars on whatever they want.

For some it may be a nice steering wheel.
For others it may be a kinky romp with nazi hookers.

                Who are we to judge?

Just for a laugh. can someone ring a dealer and ask them how much a replacement golf GTI steering wheel is worth?

Not the golf, but the polo one?

Amy - From memory there's nothing to plug the milifunction controls in, I'll confirm tonight as the wheel is coming off (just to get straightened up a few mm).

Tim - someone did and it was over a grand. The dealer quote, not the hookers.

                    DodgeGTI: Cheers!

Tim: I was quoted ballpark $1300 by a VW dealer in Melbourne for a Golf GTI sterring wheel.

                    Cheers!

How much time do any of you actually spend looking at the steering wheel while you're driving ?

If it is more than a few split seconds a trip you are creating more of a danger than any performance modifications ever could have done.

You should be concentrating on driving and looking at the road and NOT at your Golf GTI (or Polo ) steering wheel .......

BTW ... Nobody who actually took the time and money to add choice performance mods to their cars would even remotely consider fitting anything other than the best possible tyres .... see a number of other threads for that.

But As Tim said, to each his own and if a Golf GTI steering wheel floats your boat by all means get one and enjoy it regardless of what other may think.

Personally I like the look as well but it's not worth more than $200 to me....

                          Huh?!!!

I spend virtually no time LOOKING at my steering wheel whilst driving.

I do, however, spend a hell of a lot of time HOLDING it whilst I'm driving.

If you haven't gleaned by now that an upgrade such as this is desirable to some here due to FEEL rather than looks then I don't know what more can be said, Sharkie.

We're not all way-to-go-mates who want to replace every single piece of our engines, exhausts and suspensions. You have every right to do as much, but you have no right to give grief to those who don't share your depth of modification passion. The same way people such as myself, from the latter camp, have no right to give you grief for wanting to change whatever you want.

You don't bag other peoples' choices mercilessly - or in the case above actually accuse them of unsafe driving practices - then put in some tame dismissive pseudo-disclaimer and expect it to fly Sharkie. At least not in the real world.

Your post above was merde-stirring and I would hope that you know darned well it was.

ok calm down kids.. I have just been in touch with TM Tuning in Berlin and hope to get a call before 1am with a group buy price.

..I think that we all need to remember that we bought the polo for different reasons. I am the same as amy - I believe the car is as fast as it needs to be for what I need - and anyone, like me who has the leather pack obviously isn't serious about performance.

Plus.. unless you live in NT you cant drive any quicker than 110 anyway. and if its just for "track days" I can think of better cars to buy..
