Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    wooot track day!???
    Good stuff.

Would love to drive at Oran Park before it's closed.

Len is awesome. Had him for our track day as driving instructor

Even though they are not marketed as Brembo rotors, the name is stamped/engraved on the rotor itself, near the minimum thickness size.

EBC pads are a different item, and the MK4 ones won't fit the Polo. I got the pads though a local dealer in Penrith for $210.
do you know if mark 4 golf gti rotors fit on our pogs too? ......... this could be my next purchase.

Yes, they are the same as a MK4 Golf GTI, and they fit like I glove too.

Very happy with the Disk/Pad combination. Its just a shame I am overseas for over 4 months again to enjoy it!!

            • Hahahaha, thats cool mate. Well, I didn't do the rear brakes, so I'm not sure if the MK4 rear rotors are the same as the Polo GTI rotors.

you could have done that yourself

I ordered an APR R1 DV today ... will be fitting it myself ... does it come with the replacement hose clamps or do I need to go get some and if so what size for those that know the hose sizes ?

                  • For the Forge unit, the main things I had to work out were a cable tie and a longer length of the vacuum hose.

Trying to get a screw clamp for the vaccum hose (around 5mm) turned out to be near impossible from hardware and auto stores in my area.

                    • Few parts arrived:
                      Front Strut brace
                      Front Sway bar
                      Rear bushes for front suspension

Just waiting on front lip from Tim and my AP Coils and i'll be trying to get them installed ASAP.

Not sure if I should leave the rear adjusters on the coilovers or take them off for the extra 10mm or less of drop. Worried if I take them out if I'm going to be scraping and I wont be able to take it up myself or without removing the rear suspension if I'm heading into the wilderness (out of the CBD).

My sausage fingers are much more adapt running a keyboard at high speed than playing with my pride and joy (the car people..keep it clean)

I read the various threads bout how easy it was but still didn't want to attempt it...i figure this way if something breaks, the mechanic knows me and the car so i can rectify easily

                        picking up at lunch

                        • so picked it up at lunch and went for a quick thrash...initially was dissapointed with how quiet the 'ptschhhh' is....but then realised how snappy throttle response has become!!

                          • There is a fair amount of available adjustment in it. The softer you set it, the longer the noise.

Is the plumb back insert removed? Is the whistle attachment on?

has the whistle attachment on...i assume thats the cone shaped trumpet thing

plum back insert? it came boxed from Rennenhaus...i have a plug that can replace the trumpert - is this the insert your talking bout?

the noise is really really soft....only really audible under hard throttle lift off in 3rd

i know its not everyones cup of tea....but i want more 'psssshchhh'

so if i set it softer - the noise will be longer, but will it be louder? i pulled the quote from the forum 'mine is set 36 clicks from softest setting' and told the mechanic that and thats where he set it

The noise will never be that loud I found. I played with it on a number of settings, but I was happy with the ability to set the tension of the spring.
I have gone to the Forge 007 DV now, and have found that it is almost as loud as the splitter, even though it is completely plumb back.
