Did the springs fitted to your car have closed ends ground flat?Originally posted by seangti View PostI have the tops thats were pulled from the red car, they are straight as far as I can tell/remember.
I think the KW springs on Troy's car need a perch mount that is shaped to the ends so the load is spread evenly

KW do recommend using their strut tops, so if looking at the V3's, considering going clubsports to get the tops. Was a $500 difference on top of the $2700 I'd been quoted locally on V3's, so not cheap.

I'll have a look at the FK springs and Kmac hats tonight to see how that worked as I can't recall.Track Car: 06 Polo GTI Red Devil mkII

Cool thanks for that, can you look at how the spring sitsOriginally posted by seangti View PostKW do recommend using their strut tops, so if looking at the V3's, considering going clubsports to get the tops. Was a $500 difference on top of the $2700 I'd been quoted locally on V3's, so not cheap.

Why did you pull the Kmac tops out of the car, you could not run them with the H&R's ?

I could always change the springs like Eddy has done ?MODS- TOO MANY

Yes mate, the top hats that were on the FK's were the wrong size for the H&R's. I think the FK springs were narrower, so a smaller top hat. My timely alternative was to source the factory tops.Originally posted by vwthunder View PostCool thanks for that, can you look at how the spring sits

Given that the manufacturer supplied the top hat to suit the springs....Originally posted by Stuwey View PostMuch quicker and easier to bag companies on the internet though.Resident grumpy old fart

This was the reply from Kmac

"Your pics show the bottom blue alloy clamp plates are warped (where stud connector locates).
Means over tightened. As per instructions tightness required is only 25ft/lbs.
25ft/lbs withstands massive 400lbs of side thrust (3 studs therefore side load of 1200lbs)
Simply remove bottom plates, tap again flat and reinstall at above maximum torque settings""

 This was my reply
"From what I see in the pic is that the spring does not sit fully flush on the spring perch which has caused a great load on one area instead of distributing the weight evenly"

Oh and its just not the bottom blue clamp plate that is bentLast edited by vwthunder; 23-07-2014, 05:30 PM.MODS- TOO MANY
