Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Wouldn't wrap it, if it were me. I've seen/had many cracked exhausts as a result

Is that Milltek gear you've got there? I've also just ordered one of their decat downpipes from roadrunner...can't wait to get it on. We can get away without a cat here in NZ on pre 2010 cars. Will be interesting to see what difference it makes with my standard software...tune to come a bit later.

17's mate, they actually looked a bit bigger when they were silver I think. Fill in the gaps just that little bit more then 16's but nothing major.

I found the VW software struggled to control the turbo with the downpipe on. Boost was swinging all over the place as the ECU kep correcting itself. I only tried it because I had an AMD flash loader and it was easy to try. no problems with proper Phase 2.

                    • The other day I fitted the honeycomb grill set. Didn't remove the bumper, but had to cut the centre grill out. Figured I will never need it again given how much betther the honeycomb looks.

                      • Looks good. Does the lower driver side grill still have vents in it for the side mount intercooler?

Yes, and the plastic piece to funnel the air to the SMIC is now bolted to the bumper, not the plastic grill.

                          • wasnt to hard to put on all the pipes fit perfect didnt have to cut any wires was good anyone could do it, before i was getting boost spike to 20psi and drop back to 15 then back to 20 and back to 15 and the power was on and off but now max boost is about 17.5psi and it holds and its a smooth power it dont go up and down like it did before and feels much faster in 3rd real nice smooth power, does anyone know what the APR stage 1 flash max boost is stock, the power comes on so much smoother now but it has lost that punch from the boost spike from before the intercooler but over all i feel that it is a much smoother and faster car now more like the OEM feel just with a butt load more power and i love love 3rd it pulls forever the power seems like it hold to the red line, after a boot full in 34c weather today i touched the bottom of the intercooler and burnt my fingers lol and then touched the top of the intercooler and its cold really cold so it seems to be doing a awesome job at cooling
