Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Removed my side skirts. I prefer them without, its a pretty basic job, just slow getting the tape / glue off where it stuck to the car instead of the plastic skirt.

      • last night - went for a brap with gtidave in the passenger seat, had the latest fairlady (370) waiting for me over the bridge on yarra bend....

he annihilated me within 5 corners... but then i let him overtake, and he baited me.

got out on the bridge on the run back, had a great chat - those things are SO capable, stock.

p.s. he came from humble beginnings, and he gave good props to the polo for apex-to-out-of-corner poke. as well as decent mid corner speed (i r7ped my tyres)

        • Found out that it looks like I need to replace my front sway bar links. I can't find the mondeo ones I used to have on my car. Does anyone have any spare??

Yeah, I have a major knock coming from my right front. I pulled the left front sway bar link out tonight, and the ball joints are loose as... These are ther ones that came with my FK coil overs. I just wish I knew were I put my Mondeo ones, as I haven't seen them since I moved from Townsville.

I sorted my knock out. It was a loose strut top bearing. Check that before buying more links? The ball joints are supposed to be loose-ish to move around. My FK ones do and they don't knock

                • So though trial and error, I found that my drop links weren't the problem on my car... I have checked the tightness on all the nuts and bolts, so I think the problem is the strut top mounts...

                          • Yeah, mine are not happy, seems to be the weakest link with coilovers after updating the control arm bushes.

They're not expensive from the UK, anyone seen aftermarket options in this area for the Polo?
