hi - yeppers - the prices at the autostyle website are 100% correct - i actually even managed to get a discount from the manager because of previous purchases i made from them
another word of warning though - those wheels are very heavy too - so if yu like to use your car on track days - it might impact the performance a tad bit - but they do look stunning on the polo gti though
i was actually going to do that W12 GTI look if i had kept the wheels - already had a quote of (ZA rand) R1200 to do it - but sadly as ive said i was forced to replace those - no use having tyres that cost (ZA Rand) R3500 each ..... pirreli P-zero Nero's that bust a sidewall each time that you hit a pothole - if your roads are better - these may just serve you well if you were to ship a set to Australia
EDIT : whoops - just noticed that you were talking about the 17 inch versions at R3500 - i had the 18" ones - yes a lot of polo's here are using those - so they became a bit too common - so thats why i went for a different look - the price on the 17 inch versions were the exact same price as my new ones from TSW - but yeah those 17" wheels would be perfect for a polo gti - with 205/40/R17 tyres they are almost identical in rolling diameter to the stock 16" wheels - and they ride identically - you would also be able to lower the car nicely too
also the bits that you want to make black are already gray - so all the modders would need to do is make the gray bits black - thats easy enough cos its a really simple design
Anyone know of any problems importing these wheels into Aus?
There are always people moving to Oz from South Africa and they normally bring a container full of household stuff. There is always space for a few mag wheel boxes ......
Might want to find somebody bringing only half a container and then arranging with pickfords to use the other half and fill it with those wheels.
Half a container should cost $4000-$5000 and you could fit 50 sets of 4 in there ...... Total cost $30000 which works out to just $600 a set. .... Definately a business oppertunity here .....
I'm sure the market for these are far larger than just the Polo guys.... Mk4's and Mk3 VR6's would also be interested.
I'll make some enquiries.
Have also found those wheels in Italy at 122 Euro each.

yeah but those one actually look like the golf GTI wheels, i like those ones from SA cos they are a sharp clean cut along the edges of each spoke, and i love that machined alloy look .
er, Sharkie....Customs does have a good look at the manifests associated with most containers coming into the country, especially those from RSA. I'd reckon they'd take ...ooh....maybe as long as 5 minutes inspection before they hit "the business opportunist" with customs duty, GST plus a hefty fine for a fraudulent manifest. And they'll use Australian RRP for the product or near equivalent as the basis for valuation
Best to do it right

Yes, did not say it had to come in undeclared, merely that space on containers are available and that the cost per half container is quite cheap.
Will have to get import permission (and export permission) etc ... to do it.... so this will be a lot of work and effort to get done. Also can take 8-16weeks on the ship, so not quick either.
Once you get import permission the costs are taken to be cost of the material and not the market value in Oz. Only when they catch trying to do it illegally will they hit you with market value in Oz.
Will still look into it and get some info together on all the costs, red tape and govt hoops to jump through ....

ha ha ha ..never let the facts get in the way of Sharkie's spontaneity, ..he'll kick, hit and punch his way through any set backs in order to land something cheap, he doesn't take no for an answer, a true entrepreneur

yeah definitely get some info and costs etc. i have always wanted to do a bit of import parts work and i can most prob get a bit of starting finance from the old man .........cheers dad!
the main thing is i 'spose is if enough ppl would want a set, and then again, we don't want 50 VW's driving around with the same rims

well if its only 50 vw's in the whole of australia it wont be too bad i suppose - cos here its every second Polo per street that has some form of those rims - and a lot of 1600's driving around with the discarded Polo gti rims
I was prepared to order the 17s from autostyle in South Africa and sent them an email about 6 weeks ago to ask if they will ship to OZ and what the cost would be.
The response - NONE. Didnt get back to me. Shows how keen they were to sell the wheels

I got a response, they told me they wont ship. To large.
Well you done one better then me. I dont think we will ever see a Polo in Oz with those 17 huffs on, or at least for a while anyway

ok quick question? why is everyone so fasinated with these wheels after the original owner said that he had problems with them and keep blowing out the side walls... personally i think factory is always the best and strongest.. when i buy one im gonna leave it looking factory just lower the tits outta it.. and of course need more power!!
anyways anyone here gonna post more pics of there rides??
