Yeah Diamond Visions look awesome. Just a question with them though, my mate has them in his XR6 turbo and they seem to blow every 3-4 months. Have you had any issues with yours??? That was one of the main reasons i stuck with crystals, they seem to last longer and obviously a bit cheaper.

I've had mine for about 3months without any trouble... fingers crossed things stay that way!

I think it's a genuine Polo GTI but an overseas model. Those 4 door GTI's are not available in Australia however.

Yes Yes they do definately look the beez kneez!! There are a few of us that would love to have them on our polo's however its near impossible as they are not available in our bolt size.

However, you are able to get the wheels at Tempe Tyres in a bolt pattern of 5x110 which means to fit these you will need to import adapters from o/s to fit them which would set you back $500 aprrox landed here.

Then, you really wont be able to lower the car at all because of scrubbing due to the wider wheel (7.5) and the minimum thickness of the adapters are 10mm.

I really wanted to upgrade to the 17s but its way too much effort and I wouldnt be able to keep my low stance.

I hope this helps and makes sense.

A company in South Africa has 17" and 18" Golf GTI copy mags that have a 5x100 stud pattern.

We should look at finding a supplier in Oz that has them or maybe get together and bring in a few sets.

Have a look at this site.

                        And specifically these pages:

Shipping will be difficult to determine and finding their supplier may be easier and sourcing direct from there to OZ.

Man they look hot in 18. I would so buy a set if I didn't have the VW 17s.

hi guys - that 4 door with the 18" golf 5 replicas is mine - it is a real polo gti - the rims were the same ones linked by sharkie above ie the ones from autostyle ...... to source those direct you would be looking for a company called EVO i have never found a website of theirs though so i have no idea where they are based - and obviously autostyle will not reveal their suppliers details

however recently due to poor road conditions here i have been forced to change those wheels - they are 8J in width - so using a set of 215/35/R18 tyres still left a bit of metal sticking out - and each time i hit a pothole at even low speeds it necessicated a tyre change cos the tyres kept bursting the sidewalls - even with insurance on those where i paid only for the amount of tyre i used - but three tyres in the space of 4 months was a bit too much to bear - so i actually changed the wheels and tyres

heres the wheel ive now got on (sorry for the fuzzy webcam pics)

and this is what the exterior of the car looks like now - ive also blacked out that red strip in the front grille

a slightly clearer picture - but this was before i did the grille and also before i got those VW badges for the centre caps on the wheels

very attractive set of wheels indeed....are they seriously only $3,500 Rand for a set of 4, i know thats not including tyres but thats only AUD$480 . i'm going to south africa in the middle of June so i might have to have a bit of a look around whilst i am there.

i would leave just the face that bare machined look but black powdercoat all the rest of the wheel.

                              something like this!

hi - yeppers - the prices at the autostyle website are 100% correct - i actually even managed to get a discount from the manager because of previous purchases i made from them

another word of warning though - those wheels are very heavy too - so if yu like to use your car on track days - it might impact the performance a tad bit - but they do look stunning on the polo gti though

i was actually going to do that W12 GTI look if i had kept the wheels - already had a quote of (ZA rand) R1200 to do it - but sadly as ive said i was forced to replace those - no use having tyres that cost (ZA Rand) R3500 each ..... pirreli P-zero Nero's that bust a sidewall each time that you hit a pothole - if your roads are better - these may just serve you well if you were to ship a set to Australia

EDIT : whoops - just noticed that you were talking about the 17 inch versions at R3500 - i had the 18" ones - yes a lot of polo's here are using those - so they became a bit too common - so thats why i went for a different look - the price on the 17 inch versions were the exact same price as my new ones from TSW - but yeah those 17" wheels would be perfect for a polo gti - with 205/40/R17 tyres they are almost identical in rolling diameter to the stock 16" wheels - and they ride identically - you would also be able to lower the car nicely too

also the bits that you want to make black are already gray - so all the modders would need to do is make the gray bits black - thats easy enough cos its a really simple design
